"King Asgore has asked me to find a way to increase the success of what limited food production we have. There's nothing in this cave that can act as a fertilizer, and the soil is barren and void of life no matter where you go. When humans have fallen and been killed, their bodies were used... But there just wasn't enough material to sustain crops longer than a month or two. And monster bodies don't have anywhere near as much substance as a human body. However, I have a theory. Humans are strong, and this strength is clearly displayed by their souls. This incredible will, this determination... I suspect that it plays a role in the substance of their bodies. If I take this incredible energy, and put it into the bodies of fallen monsters... I might have a way of sustaining far more crops than we've ever been able to before. Finally, the soil will be fertile enough to grow all kinds of food. No one will have to go hungry ever again."Hoo boy! This was a doozy! In Faminetale, I've decided that monsters don't turn to dust. Instead, the dead are honored by making sure that their loved ones go a night with hopefully full bellies. ....Yeah. I mean cannibalism. Anyway, I had to make a completely different origin for Flowey and the Amalgamates. I hope this is somewhat decent.

Well, they died, and their corpses were injected with determination, which was seen as simply a source of incredible energy that remained even in human corpses. The determination infused monster corpses were then cut up into reasomably sized bits and put in soil to attempt to fertilize various crops. However, the chunks of monster flesh soon began to melt in the soul, and they bonded together, in most instances through the plants and roots they were surrounded with.
