Description I really loved the film "ONCE" when I saw it a few months ago. Not only was it a great movie but the music was amazing. I went out and bought the soundtrack and it is easily the best album of the year. Being from The States, I had no idea who Glen Hansard was. This film thankfully brought him into my knowledge and I quickly picked up "SetList" a live cd of his very popular Irish band, The Frames. Glen's songwriting and powerhouse voice is so strong and moving while Marketa's soft and tender vocals are as soothing as they get. After their very heartwarming Oscar win last night I really wanted to pay tribute to these two wonderful artists. I am thrilled because I found out that this Friday tickets go on sale in my hometown and the two performers will be playing a show the weekend of my birthday and I am going to snatch those tickets up like free pizza!

I watched this movie this month, I also really loved that! I really liked because it's more real than other movies and all. Now I'm in love with The Swell Season (It's a shame they broke up TwT) Really amazing drawing!
You've just messed with my feelings! :')

It was a great film and they are great singer/songwriters. Their live show was one of the best concerts I've ever attended.

Luckily they didn't give up on the band after their break up and may go another tour.

I know, I love how they're still close friends even though they aren't dating anymore ^^
I kinda wish they got married though
But she's 20 years younger than him...so...yeah

Well Glen and Marketa became lovers in real life and they broke up romantically and everyone knows how that always goes in bands. I overheard it on the tv the other night. It really stinks because they were writing some really good music for the next album. When we saw them back in May, they sang 5 new songs.

I've managed to piece together the real story about that. Marketa had never really considered writing music until she met Glen when she was 13 (he was 31), and thought it was great fun to sing with him in shows and whatnot. Then he asked her to be in Once as Girl, which she did. After that they got together from the whole rush of hormones one gets when working in close contact with a good friend for a long time. Then, because they got so unexpectedly popular and were together (sex sells), Glen was getting a lot of offers he would have never gotten when he was in the Frames. Marketa had the whole idea of "Okay, that was fun, but let's go home now," while Glen was more like "Let's keep doing this forever!" And so finally the pressure became to much and the romance faded. Nothing too big or dramatic, just kind of sad. But at least they're still great friends because it was sort of a mutual separation, and they're still making music together

There's a site where I was able to happily download the live concert I went to in May which allowed me to own those new songs they sang. This was a real treat because that concert was one of the greatest shows I've ever been to and they sound just as good live. I can't remember the name of the site but if you google The Swell Season live downloads I'm sure the site would come up. They did 3 covers at the show as well which were amazing. One was a Van Morrison song, another was Marketa doing Willow's song from "The Wicker Man" and then they both did a Pixies song. I am going to miss the two of them together no doubt. At least I had the chance to see them live I guess.

Saw them in concert last month, the best concert I have ever been to. Coolest thing, you can download the entire 2 hour concert for ten bucks on playedlastnight.com. I highly reccommend it. The show I saw was at the Brown Theatre in Louisville, KY. Magical night.

It felt so good when they won--and even better when they let her come back on to give a speech--possibly my favorite moment of the night.

I like them and their music too! I first saw Glen and Marketa one year ago. They had a concert with The Frames in Pilsen, the town I live in. Marketa is also Czech like me and she is only one year older then me. I am a fan of her. The concert was wounderful! I hope they will come again.

Btw.. the picture is very good
