What's a "SAMHAIN?"

Samhain (pronounced Sow-win) is where Halloween the holiday comes from. It's Celtic, similar to the All Soul's Day holiday. Modern day Halloween comes from many old world festivals and Samhain was one of them. Basically the same old thing, the end of the harvest...the beginning of winter. This drawing was done for a short story on Halloweencomics involving a side story from the 1981 film "Halloween II". In the film, Dr. Loomis visits a local schoolhouse where Myers has broken in, stuck a knife in a desk and written Samhain on the chalkboard in blood. In the film, Loomis explains what Samhain is. Although Pleasence mispronounces it.

this makes me sad people continue to demonize pagan holidays

Sorry, it wasn't meant to demonize Samhain from my end...I totally get that the pagans have been demonized wrongfully throughout history. How can people be devil worshippers if they don't believe in the devil? This, as stated in another reply, is based on the film Halloween II

Wow you must get commisions all the time. How I envy you !!!! One thing I must know is how do you develop these illustrations? Pencil to ink to photoshop pen tool ? ?????

I don't get THAT many commisions. They start with pencil, then ink, then scanned into photoshop where I paint them.

The story the writer wrote is actually VERY well done. It is supposed to debut on halloweencomics.com sometime soon. Originally it was supposed to debut on Halloween but the editor said it wouldn't happen till later now.

Thanks. It was a dream come true and I hope that the publishers at Devil's Due give me steady work on their Halloween comics after this. This was done for their official website. I would love to do more Myers based work for them.

Is it a story about Mickhael Myers high-school years?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MalevolentNate In reply to WellDressedKiller [2009-08-04 15:48:39 +0000 UTC]
lol...no. If you have seen the movies quite a bit you may recall a scene in Halloween 2 where Dr. Loomis meets police at the local school and they show him how Myers broke in a window, he stabbed a knife into the teacher's desk with a child's drawing of a family--the knife stuck in the sister. And he wrote "SAMHAIN" on the chalk board in blood. This story tells how this all happened.
