Since Pieter Cross, the genetically modified enforcer known as "Midnighter", joined the D.E.O (The Department of Extraterrestrial Operations) he met and battled many amazing aliens - but none of them was as amazing as Apollo, a New God from the planet of New Genesis, exiled for his arrogance. Too arrogant and vain to remain on New Genesis and too bright to join the dark gods on Apokolips, Apollo came to Earth. Although their minds worked in drastically different ways, Apollo and Midnighter soon became friends - and even more than just friends, they became lovers. Pieter acquired the documents so that his godly lover could walk among humans with a godly name - Maxwell Lord.
