Description I'd been meaning to give Isabelle some lackies for some time, and today was the time to do it. When told me about this story, she described Isabelle and her three devil lackies, one blue, one black, and one white. I loosely based these guys on that color scheme. I named these guys Pan (little guy), Dio (caped guy) and Mo (big guy), as a play on the word "pandemonium" (Pan-Dio-Mo-nium). Pandemonium is taken from the Latin for "all demons," and I think was first used in the book "Paradise Lost" to describe the palace built by Lucifer and the 200 or so fallen angels to house "all demons" after they were banished to hell. And since these guys are demon/devil types, I thought it made sense.

Dio is the first character I think I've ever drawn where I was actually attempting to create a sexy dude, so let me know how that turned out. I based his design and personality off of a combination of Zarbon from DBZ and Cobra Commander, so he's a total prick. Mo is like a big strong puppy, and Pan just wants to impress everybody with his inventions and cleverness.

As always Thweatted you're free to take or leave whatever you like from this, and if you have any suggestions let me know.

For some reason I keep wanting to shout COBRA!!!!!

Anyway, very groovey look for these characters! You can really tell their personalities.

Yeah, the one guy's totally got a Cobra Commander feel to him, which is exactly what I was going for. Thanks for the comp!

Holy crap. I don't know how I managed to overlook this picture!
It kicks so much arse it's insane. I feel like the biggest idiot right now. I only wish I could design something like this. Many thanks and apologies.

Sorry about that, I should've pointed it out to you when I first put it up. Anyway I'm glad you like it. I was hoping these guys weren't too far off base from what you originally had in mind.

Oh man, very cool. The ol' limited pallette does wonders. I like this image a bunch and am reminded of Devilot as she appears in Puzzle Fighter. Check it.

These guys are great! My favourite is probably Mo, most likely due to the fact that he just caught my eye and looks hilarious. He kinda reminds me of Big Bird's dog...I don't remember that thing's name.
Awesome!

Mo kinda reminds me of a combination of Billy from the Powerpuff Girls and Blanka from Street Fighter. I can barely recall what Big Bird's dog looks like, but I sorta understand the comparison.

WOW this is awesome! I like how the lighting kind of blends them all together. This series rocks.

Thanks! Considering the kind of story this is, about a girl entering a cartoon, this particular image is way overdone, but maybe we could call this a trading card image from the show, kinda like a YuGiOh playing card.

I'd tell you this stuff in person, but I'm busy coughing and I might barf on you, so I'll spare you my viruses and tell you here.

While I'm a big fan of the drawing, I think you've seriously overworked the coloring on this one. It looked pretty nice when I saw you working on it: there was a nice flow and the image was simple. I could read what was going on in the image without trouble.

Then, I'm guessing, you decided to copy a bunch of stuff and plop it on top. Either that, or you created layers with different effects and rendered into the drawing again and again.

You've got a lot of grayed out colors mashed together on top of a bright gradient, so now all of the intensity you have just vanishes. And I can see that while you started rendering with a strong light source in mind, you went back in with what might even be pure white to get the glow effects. It comes off looking sort of like a photo from an overexposed negative. It also causes all your highlights to become about the same color, doing even more to flatten the image and destroy the natural focal points and flow in the drawing.

Pan and Mo aren't really suited to being rendered this way. The way you've drawn them, they need some bright colors and a little bit more range. Dio probably works the best since he has the best range and the colors aren't as washed out in his costume. Isabelle just sort of vanishes into the middle of the image and you really have to look at it to figure out what parts are her and what parts aren't. I mean, look at her hand on the right. You really can't tell that's not part of Dio's costume.

I don't mean to harangue you with all this crap, I just don't think this ended up as good as I was hoping it would. The drawing is a very good direction for you. This coloring ain't.

Ah...so many words.

Actually this does get a little washed out the way I handled it. Looking at some other people's work earlier today, I think it might help to do a picture or two without my standard working into a gradient technique and just let the colors and rendering speak for themselves. It will take more careful planning to arrive at an attractive overall palette, but so be it.

Loads of colours that nearly all fall into the catagory of red and purple and* almost starts singing rainbow song* blue. Really good.
