ahem *delves into the horse knowledge drummed into her since she was a child* ok i help best i can ^_^ the neck is slightly too short for the rest of the overall body, but i wouldnt thicken it too much. from what i can see the face is a bit dishy, that means that the bridge of the muzzle (like the bridge of your nose* is a bit too sunk in. if you raised that line.. just a TINY bit, it should look fine. The legs are maybe a tiny bit too narrow, and the hock joint on the off side (thats the back leg.. the 'knee', on the far side) is a bit too thin. It should be slightly thicker. From wat i can see you mean for the horse to be heavy set, so dont forget that the proportiosn for that must be carried on throughout the entire horse. The stifles are fine... the flank is well shaped. but my other nitpick, which is really only that, a nitpick, is that the way the horse is carrying its tal. That quality is usually only seen in Arabs, but its only a small nitpick Arabs have a dishy nose, so maybe you meant for it to be that way... overall it is a very well piece and i love the painting technique ^__^ heres a for you!

That's really nice. It looks so peaceful and free. I really like the mane and tail, and the hooves. Like the colors too. Good job!

Having spent alot of time around horses I do notice a few things 'off' about your painting. Having drawn horses I know how hard it can be to get them just right.

The left hip should not be raised if his left leg is lower than the right. Just delete the shaded area above the back highlight to fix it. Also the eye is a little higher and smaller than it should be. Horses have extremely expressive eyes. Finally the nostril is also too small. When they run, they flare their nostrils.

Otherwise I absolutely love LOVE it.

this is sooooooo nice!!
i shld print this out big n hang it by my bed!!!

well i'm a chinese, and lemme tell u a lil bit abt horses... hmm horses are spirit of labour, and most businessman (which most chinese are) they tend to put a big picture of a bunch of horsies runnin thru some random river... so that, the company will have strong labour and steadfast service... know what i mean?

ok enough with the moral lesson.. haha!! juz thot u might wanna know that
anyway, great painting technique, very flowy, lively... i like your painting technique!! the colors are nicely blended... it's nice as it is
oh and i think the neck's realli beeeeg.......

Ooh.... Painty. HTe coat looks velvety. I agree that the legs are a little short, but otherwise, this is amazing. Maybe you can give it some ground to run on? Very nice. I like the hair. I fall down and worship at your throne.

this may be just me, but the legs look a little off. like...the ones that face the viewer are fine, but the ones in behind look a little spaced out. I could be crazy though...i used to draw horses...LONG time ago...
anyway...this is really nice
+fav!

well i thought i was crazy too but yeah...the legs from behind seem a little odd to me, i think the left one is just a little bit to big, otherwise the drawing is really great, i envy ur ability to draw animals....

Just a weeee bit bigger nose and taller neck would look beauutiful you should make nose all flare-y like maybe o_O soo looks like its been working and stuff -is horse freak-x_x -will shut up now-

plangkye [2003-09-06 00:01:12 +0000 UTC]

I agree that the nose needs a bit of work, but I see notjhing whatsoever wrong with the neck. And I tried to do that painty thing in Photoshop once on a centaur... it completely didn't work. I envy your ability.

I cant really help you with critics on the horse because I cant draw animal anatomy but from what I see now, it looks pretty amazing! I especially like the tail, how it lifts up like that. That would be a detail I would forget wonderful work!
