Are chameleon's jaws like turtle-jaws? More like bones than a teeth? I had an occasion to try, but you know...

well they do hve teeth but they're pretty small, but still sharp. mostly it's the power of their bite

Sons of a b........ chameleon-ladies. You're right about the power of a bite - sometimes it's way too hard.

yep but it's not normal for our chameleons in malta to have such a strong bite force, usually it doesn't even puerce the skin! But there was something about this chmeleon. he was much more aggresive, he seemed a tiny bit larger, he stangely had really long sharp claws, and obviously a very hard bite!

it doesn't look happy, so it had to bite to escape. they usually don't bite, just puff themselves to look bigger, with good reason ofcourse, but if you catch it, it will resort to biting. you have to hold them from the back of their head so not to turn their heads and bite.

vera? jaqaw it has to do with their size? And i found this guy in Gozo, which is pretty rare hux?

Faunamelitensis In reply to Maltese-Naturalist [2009-08-20 10:46:25 +0000 UTC]

well it depends, but i think Size matters. its not really that rare in Gozo, though still a bit Scarce and only occurs in some few places there. in Gozo it is a recent Alien, introduced in the early 90's, and also in Comino and Cominotto., in 2000.

I don't know much about the wildlife there.
