Well...I wasn't able to insert all of the toothpick spines as I did not make the holes large enough. Oh well, he just isn't real prickly.
Note: Isn't that the most awesome piece of cholla wood in the background?! It kind of throws the photo off balance but I just think it is so cool! ^^

I think the polymer shrinks slightly when you bake it. I'd drill the holes slightly bigger (just use the drill bit by hand).

Have you got an emery board or some fine sandpaper? You can file down your toothpicks to fit in the holes. I've done that then making... um... I can't even remember! But I distinctly remember having to sand them down to fit in the hole!
