Because it was HIGH time i updated the old one.Nikolai Molokov - it's been almost two years since his last reference sheet. Happy second birthday, Niko. There's been tears, tantrums and terrible anatomy, but we've grown - both as an artist, and a character. And thanks to my insanely talented other half, =TheCrowchan , who did the text, here is an updated version of Niko for an updated story.
To be joined shortly by Hunter and Delilah.

My goodness, he's grown.
I have to admit, I did like the other one better - it was bigger, had more relevant information and the art was cleaner. This one is still good - hell, ALL your ref sheets are good - but it tells me a couple of things about the artwork, not about Niko.
First of all, I can tell the text wasn't written by you - Niko's your character, therefore he's in your head, but the text, somehow, isn't. It's good and funny, but somehow off, if you get my meaning. I love the way Crow writes and you make a fabulous team, but I think ref sheets for your own characters ought to have text by you.
Second, I can definitely see that your art has changed since the last Niko ref sheet - you appear to be heading somewhere, but I don't think you've got there just yet. Once you perfect this change in style, I think this will definitely be recognisable as a halfway house.
All this if a pretty damning critique, all in all, and I really don't want it to sound that way. It's good to see Niko grow, and this ref sheet does make me wonder exactly how he'd have turned out without Crow's influence on your muse. I don't think he'd be half as amusing - Hunter and Niko make an excellent team.

It's true. The writing feels a little schizophrenic here, I think. xD;; I do love Niko, but I'll never write him as well as Miss Pixie does -- he's her baby, and at the end of the day, I'm just chasing after them writing poo jokes.

When you're writing the hetero-manbuddy double act, though, that's absolutely top-notch. Every time.

Admittedly, when I first saw Niko (however long ago that was, don't remember), he came off as a bit of a slob, but after seeing this, I find that there's a certain charm in his somewhat disheveled appearance that comes off pretty well in these drawings. I just looked at Hunter and Delilah's sheets before this, and I must say, you and Miss Crow make quite a duo. Your artwork is absolutely stunning. Between Niko, Hunter, and Delilah, all three just came off beautifully, although despite how handsome he may be, I think I still may be a bit reluctant to book Hunter for my birthday parties for certain other reasons. xD Crow does excellent in her part as well, keeping the descriptions very witty and entertaining. Seriously. It's hard not to at least smile at some of the comments made. But either way, keeping doing what you're doing (the both of you), because whatever you're doing, it definitely works.
