this is so cute. b/w goes perfectly with this picture, but you should have made it a litle less noisy. The softer the baby is, the better

Thank you. I added this to my gallery because I liked the composition but I did not like the focus. I was and still am getting used to my digital camera and had it set incorrectly to lock the focus. I appreciate your comments. Your gallery is wonderful.

The cropping idea was well thought though I think you should have left a tad bit more from the right in so that the cut was right on the center of the nose. I usually like to see exif data, it can help to understand the good or bad in a shot. This picture does have noise. A softer focus does improve pictures of such new born , that is just my opinion !

Thanks for the thoughts. I cropped his arm in the camera so was not able to add it back (grin). His nose was runny (yuk) so that was all I included of it. (Ewwww.) These two things were fine with me, and intentional, but I appreciate the comments. The focus however was the result of me not being familiar with my camera. I thought I had pressed the shutter enough to lock in the focus on his eyes but evidently the focus was not locked and picked up the pattern in the background as I pressed the shutter. I wish I could say that makes it a happy accident but I did not like the background sharp or the fact that I did not get the focus where I meant to. (sigh) I need to re-read my manual but I am so stubborn.

Wow nice angle and cropping. The B/W is amazing to, also why is it all grainy? :S

The grainy effect and noise (you will see quite a bit of noise if you look) was the result of 1600 iso. The soft focus on the baby and sharp background is the result of a loose nut just behind my camera. Thanks. (My attempt at humor.)

Somewhat dark and the kit lens if very slow. I have a manual focus 50 1.4 I like but it does not meter with a D50. I am waiting for a Luna Pro meter I ordered so I can use that for low light.

Good work, again the cropping is smart.
