Description A most magnificent owl which I photographed at a sanctuary. I was also given the privilege of holding her, and she was surprisingly very light.

Wow. Gorgeous, I think I'd still be nervous to hold her. Admire sure, but those yellow eyes make me feel like prey!

I can't think of the last time I saw a picture of an owl with its wings outstretched, fabulous shot.

Thank you. Well, I went to an owl sanctuary which is completely run by good will of the owners and is even free to enter. The birds have been rescued and are now very well looked after. This individual was born at the sanctuary though, and believe it or not she is 16 years old, apparently they can get to 35..! The owner (a very nice old gentleman) called her 'Ellie,' and she is a very clever bird! She outstretched her wings when he was holding her just by moving his arm slightly up and down.
