Also, I have tons of trouble when I try to draw an arm in that position (I'm talking about the raised arm). For some reason, I can't quite figure out how to draw that almost-90° angle between arm and forearm without it looking all stiff and blocky. I hope that studying this drawing will help me understand what I was doing wrong ^^

i know what you're talking about, but it may be hard to see in this drawing, because of the texture of the paper. so looking at your own arm in the mirror might help as well.

Oh, super fun! And I'd forgotten how much I LOVE drawing on rough-surface watercolor paper. Back in highschool, every pencil/charcoal/conte piece I produced was on coldpress WC paper, because the tooth makes such nice texture, but for watercolor detail that I do now, I prefer Bristol or HotPress, so all this CP's been lying around unused... and now I want to go try my old conte pencils on it again, too
