Description Still new to photography. Trying to focus on making dishes look very appetizing. Any comments welcome!

Surprisingly, with 30 shots, the first one came out the best. I realized that I really need to have the scene ready for shooting before the food is done. Here, the butter on the potatoes melted before I set up the tripod.

The original photo includes the whole plate. I cropped it down just to see what would happen. The steak definitely stands out a lot more in the crop. It still looks good next to the potatoes on the full image, but the crop certainly gives additional dramatic flare to the steak.

Dish -- steak basted with butter in onions, garlic, oregano, and bay leaves, followed with a shot of tawny port toward the end. Onions from the basting were caramelized and placed on top the steak. Sides were broccoli with butternut squash and mashed potatoes.

Medium or medium rare? Man, you're making me hungry.

I like how focused this cropped photo is.
