Description

In addition to doing my OTPs and NOTPs list, I found this other meme where it ranks shippings that you have always liked, have shifted perspectives towards, or have always disliked.

So I thought, why not do this one as well?

NOTE: Like with other meme listings that I’ve done that involve shipping, the comments are disabled to prevent people from arguing with each other. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and there is no need to start fan wars over them.

First up are pairings that I’ve loved since they were first introduced and that have still to this day have shipped:

1. Steven and Connie (Steven Universe)

Jam buds!

I may have gotten into Steven Universe a little late, but I loved the friendship between these two from the beginning of the series to the ending. Seeing how much Connie grew because of her relationship with Steven, and how much Steven showed to understand Connie despite how he was half gem, it reflected a wholesome and healthy relationship. And it’s why I appreciated their friendship and started to like the idea of them as a ship.

2. KO and Dendy (Ok Ko! Let's Be Heroes!)

After watching the first episode where Dendy was introduced to the main cast, I found these two together so adorable. They honestly reminded me of Steven and Connie from Steven Universe…

As the show produced more and more episodes of them hanging out together, I could see their chemistry growing. It was so adorable to watch and it’s why I came to ship them.

3. Silver and Blaze (Sonic the Hedgehog series)

I got Sonic 06 (without any knowledge on its reputation as a game that has become a very hated game) because I was curious to see the introduction of Silver the Hedgehog. I was already aware of Blaze because of the Sonic Rush games and liked her character.

After starting the game, I liked their friendship from the start. It wasn’t until I got so invested in trying to beat the glitchy game when I started to ship these two.

4. Zane and PIXAL (Ninjago)

Robot love!

I was happy that PIXAL was introduced in season 3. Not only has she grown as a character since then, even becoming the new Samurai X, but her relationship with Zane is so intriguing and adorable. Both of them have grown more human because of their chemistry, feeling emotions and attached to each other, to the point where they even say that they love each other.

5. Mike and Eleven (Stranger Things)

One of the best shows I’ve ever watched, and it’s got a great cast of characters. And Mike and Eleven are two of those characters, as well as a ship I liked since the start.

I found them so cute in their interactions. Mike was doing anything he could to keep Eleven safe and showing her what life outside of the lab was like, treating her like a real person as well. And as the dangers from the lab and the Upside Down started to threaten them, they would protect each other from those threats.

I love their chemistry and bond, and it’s why I came to ship them.

Honorable mentions:

Jay and Nya (Ninjago)

Cilan and Iris (Pokémon Black and White Anime)

Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter series)

Next up are pairings that I originally didn’t support or disliked, but as time passed by in their respective series, or as I grew older and understood character relationships better, I’ve come to support these pairings:

1. Discord and Fluttershy (My Little Pony Friendship is Magic)

I love Discord as a character and as a villain, and Fluttershy is my favorite member of the Mane 6. I thought their friendship was cute starting with season 3, but it wasn’t until the season 6 finale when I started to consider shipping them. And after a few more episodes, seeing how much Discord has grown as a character and how far he would go to make Fluttershy happy, it’s why I came to the conclusion that I liked the ship of them together.

2. Paul and Dawn (Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Anime)

I’ll admit, when I first got into the Pokémon anime, I hated Paul and thought that the idea of him and Dawn as a pairing was messed up.

But as I got older, learning more about analyzing characters, I finally came to understand why a friend of mine likes Paul and pairs him with Dawn. I lost my hatred for him, seeing him in a new light and understanding him as a character better. And I came to ship him and Dawn because of some of the adorable artwork my friend made of them together. ^^

3. Tony Stark and Pepper Potts (MCU)

At the start of the MCU films, in the first Iron Man movie, I wasn’t fully sure what to think of these two as a couple. But as MCU made more films, and I saw Tony and Pepper’s interactions more and more, I came to respect them as characters and I liked their relationship as well. It literally took them years to grow closer as a couple, and even when they finally married, they have shown how they understand each other despite their differences. Heck, I was crying when I saw how despite how they got married and had a daughter, in the ending, because of Thanos, they didn’t get to keep their happy ending…

4. Monica Geller and Chandler Bing (Friends)

Ross and Rachel’s relationship was why I was nervous on seeing Monica and Chandler become a couple. But this relationship is what made the series better and became what I wanted to see. Unlike Ross and Rachel, Monica and Chandler had taken their time, showing that they understood what the other wanted, but didn’t rush into things. They dated for a couple years, and were married for a few before they finally decided to start a family.

Now THIS relationship was what interested me in the show. No cheating, no rushing into stuff, and of course, no “we were on a break” BS for Monica and Chandler.

5. Dipper and Pacifica (Gravity Falls)

As I started watching the show, I was curious to why people shipped Dipper with Pacifica, since it was evident that Dipper had a crush on Wendy. After seeing how Pacifica grew as a character, especially in season 2, I came to understand why people ship and Dipper. And I’ll admit, I can see these two working out as a couple, given after Pacifica went through her character development.

Runner Ups:

Marlin and Dory (Finding Nemo)

Ash and May (Pokémon Anime)

Lloyd and Kai (Ninjago)

Now, here are the pairings that I originally liked or had some mutual respect towards, but as time passed by in their series, or after I revisited these pairings, I changed my opinion on these and came to dislike them:

1. Finn and Princess Bubblegum (Adventure Time)

I got into the show before Flame Princess became a part of the cast. And I will admit, when I first got into Adventure Time, I did think that Finn and PB were cute together, and had hopes that they’d end up together. But looking back on the events before Flame Princess joined the cast, honestly, I think it’s for the better that these two never got together officially. It’s better that they stay as friends.

So yeah, even if I ship Finn with Flame Princess, I’m not ashamed to admit that I did once ship him with PB. I don’t anymore now, of course.

2. Ross Geller and Rachel Greene (Friends)

Like most people who got into the show, when these two got together, I was happy. I thought they were adorable, especially with how Ross had been acting awkward leading up to him and Rachel getting together at last.

As the series progressed, the whole “we were on a break” crap was toxic and annoying. I lost interest in this couple and found it to be a hindrance to the series as well. So when they got back together at long last in the series finale, I wasn’t happy. Honestly, I no longer like this couple and find it a toxic relationship.

3. Kenny and Dawn (Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Anime)

I’ll admit, before I changed my opinion on Paul and the pairing of him and Dawn, I did used to think that Kenny and Dawn would be ideal. But I came to change my perspective. I’m neutral on pairing Dawn with Ash, but in addition to changing my opinion on Paul and the pairing of him and Dawn, I looked back on Kenny and Dawn’s interactions in the anime.

Honestly, looking at it again, it made me question why I even came to shipping these two together

Don’t get me wrong: I’m neutral on this pairing and I can see why others like it, but I’m not a fan anymore.

4. Cinderella and Prince Charming (Cinderella)

This movie was a part of my childhood. And yeah, when I was a little kid, I did like the film. Though, watching it again as an adult, as well as with knowledge on writing characters, relationships, and character development, I changed my perspective on a few aspects of this classic Disney princess movie.

And one of the things I changed my perspective on is this relationship. It is SUPER rushed. They literally met once, and the next time they meet, they get married. Not to mention that Cinderella marrying the prince, honestly, it gives the false idea to the audience that you can only be happy if you marry someone.

No offense to anyone who does like this classic Disney princess movie…

5. Twilight Sparkle and Flash Sentry (My Little Pony Equestria Girls)

It took me watching the Equestria Girls spin off series to see why people on DA were shipping Twilight with Flash.

And yeah, when I watched the first film, I’ll admit, I was also intrigued by the two of them together. But as the spin offs continued, Flash kinda just got pushed to the side. Even in the main series, Twilight didn’t interact with the Flash Sentry in her world.

As a result, my interest in this ship pretty much faded away. I’m more neutral on these two as a couple, since I’ve seen some sweet fan art, and I really do wish we got to see more of Flash as a character. But I’m not super into it as a result now.

Runner Ups:

Kirito and Asuna (Sword Art Online)

Sans and Toriel (Undertale)

Brock and Lucy (Pokémon Anime)

And finally, these are the pairings that I’ve hated since their introduction, whether as a couple or when both characters interacted on screen together, and haven’t changed my opinion on since then:

1. Lloyd and Harumi (Ninjago)

I’ve said it over and over again:

I HATE this pairing because it’s ABUSIVE AND TOXIC. It baffles me that people think it’s the opposite of those facts, or act like Harumi isn’t evil when she is.

I don’t think I need to go over yet again why I hate this pairing with a burning passion…

2. Mike and Jessica (Until Dawn)

Jessica is the one character I hate in the game, and her relationship with Mike is the main reason to why I hate them as a couple.

This relationship is so one-sided. Jessica does little to nothing for Mike when they spend time together. Heck, even the players can see it in their segments, because they always take control of Mike and do the heavy lifting!

Already, I hate Jessica for being a stereotypical dumb blonde and overly weak damsel in distress, but making her a terrible girlfriend is more reasons to why I don’t like her. So… you get the picture when I say I don’t ship these two…

3. Nancy and Steve (Stranger Things)

I didn’t really like Steve at the start of the series, but thank goodness he went through character development towards the ending of season 1 and in season 2.

Still, even with his character development, I wasn’t happy with his and Nancy’s relationship, primarily when the series first started. Steve is a lousy boyfriend and was a jerk (until he started going through character development), and I was honestly happy that he and Nancy broke up in season 2. Heck, he was even cool with the breakup, admitting that he’s not a good boyfriend!

It’s better that they are friends now in the series, because it fits their character growth, especially Steve’s.

4. Cilan and Burgundy (Pokemon Black and White Anime)

Cilan is one of my favorite characters in the anime. Burgundy is a character that I can’t come to like.

If that wasn’t enough to state why I don’t ship them, then maybe this will add more insight:

While others can say that Burgundy acts like a jerk to Cilan because she secretly likes him, honestly, I can’t see it that way either. Cilan clearly holds no ill-will to Burgundy, but she still always insults him and claims that she knows better than him. She never listens when he tries to give her advice to improve her skills, so if they were to function as a couple, it would honestly be one-sided and unhealthy…

5. Edward and Bella (The Twilight Saga)

I regret ever giving this series a try, even if it was for the sake of a friend who loved it…

This couple is stupidly bland, as well as emotionless and unhealthy. It’s why I couldn’t get into the series and it’s why I’ll never support it.

Dishonorable mentions:

Mario and Pauline (Super Mario series)

Sonic and Sally (Sonic Archie)

Knuckles and Rouge (Sonic the Hedgehog series)
