You can still find almost every available Mega Stone in the Ruby & Sapphire remakes after catching or defeating Groudon and Kyogre, so if you have the necessary Pokemon traded into those games, you can give them those stones.

Let me see if i've got this right: Mega form is an in-battle evolution where a fully evolved pokemon temporarily reccieves a huge all-around stat boost, right?

You know, everyone is always saying "why is Mewtwo's tail on his head?".
Remember how in his original form, Mewtwo has that weird tube on the back of his head? That's actually a secondary spinal cord that increases his psychic powers.
Did anyone stop to think that secondary spine is connected to his tail and in his Mega form, that spine fully connected into his tail and moved it to Mewtwo's head to become even bigger and increase Mewtwo's power even higher?
It makes sense given that Mega Mewtwo has a higher Sp.Atk stat.

It's just a Mega Evolution. Don't take it so seriously. I reacted the same way 'til I found out it was a temporary, in-battle evolution(I was so relieved XD). It's optional if you want to change it in battle by giving it a Mega Stone.

Yeah, I kinda had mixed feelings the first time I saw it, but now that I know the true nature of this form I actually don't think its that bad anymore.

It is, a new form of evolution, mega evolution. What makes this different than regular evolution is that they can only occur during battle and they wear off when the battle ends.
