Great image of another great machine. I remember those being a common sight in the skies of the US. Rules of engagement that are written by morons who dn't want to hurt the enemy will result in losing 50% of your aircraft like happened ot the 105. Love the backdrop and the loadout you have here.

Please keep on drawing more of this forgotten but great airplane, the mightiest of the single-engined jets in the Vietnam War! You give the people who flew them and their mounts justice!

I always enjoy the "you are there" feeling your art conveys to the viewer. I know, I keep saying it, but I am always amazed by it. I feel like I'm flying wingman here. Another fine work of art!

great plane, and great picture to do it justice. It's a little sad but its no suprise that rules of engagement were always a problem.

Thank you very much. I wanted to convey that feeling of a little bit of sadness as the brave pilot takes off on another dangerous mission.

It's amazing the service they got out of the thing, and it's almost the only case I know of a shut-down assembly line being reactivated to make more of an older design. Β While the plane seldom failed its brave pilots, I could wish it had been better able to defend itself in the air. Β Your usual brilliant work and choice of subject.

It is an amazing machine. Funny I didn't like it when I was a kid. Thought it was ugly. Didn't get why the intakes looked so weird. Now it is one of my favorites.

This was my dad's favorite aircraft--I think he owned every book on the F-105. Β I don't have the words to describe what a gorgeous painting this is.
I did a little digging on this particular aircraft. Β Turns out it had a name: "Damn You Charlie Brown!" Β It showed a pregnant Lucy as underwing "armpit" art. Β (You probably knew that already, but I thought I'd mention it.)

Thank you very much. Yes, that was the initial reason for the name but it later became a term of endearment that only those associated with it should use.

That it was. And yes, it has rather high wing loading due to its original design intent.Β

Lovely picture, as always! At least it never had to carry out the mission for which it was designed.

It had large I-Beam like spars, could go Mach 2 and was capable of supersonic performance on the deck. It was really quite the airplane, and it was a shame that our rules of engagement caused so many losses. Really excellent picture.
