I think it's something of an optical illusion with those little bumps (doors I think) on the sides, there's an odd number of them, more on one side than the other. I kept having that same feeling, but I'm put grids on it and it's straight... weird
This is among my favorites and I ended up giving prints to several friends who asked for them.

Stunning! The waves in this and the contrast in the overall shot really caught my eyes big time. It almost screams at the viewer when one is looking at it! Technically sound, it is quite the attention getter!

This is a beautiful shot, although I'm not too keen on the vignetting that too place (possibly from stacking a polarizer filter) I sure am a sucker for lighthouses

I could reduce the vigentting some in photoshop, but you are correct about the source of it. I personally kind of like it, but we're all individuals with diff tastes.

wowww~ I'm fond of lighthouses but this one is unique, to me, because I've never seen a lighthouse surrounded by houses before. Awesome!
And the light really brings the lighthouse and the houses out from the gloomy tones of the sea.

I think the buidlings around the lighthouse are kind of support buidling, like it was once isolated and those were farm like buidlings. But that's really a guess as I didn't get a chance to visit it. I was spending my time at the beach and saw it when I was driving looking for a place to see the sunset.

Well, if it's not California, someone has a lot to explain!
That shot took a bit of effort so I'm glad I got something out of it. My shoes were soaked in seawater and sand from the beach I'd been at earlier, so I scrambled across slippery rocks barefooted to get that angle on it. You should see the ones where you can see the sea spray splashing around me!

Which is entirely possible. Working in a gift shop, I've seen some pretty terrible postcards.
