Description the quality does it no justice! i'll get better pics later.

this is a painting/illustration i made for a gallery showing. the show opens tonight, may 5 (HAPPY 5 DE MAYO)! the theme was "QUEEN" and anything it meant to me. the tattoo on her stomach is supposed to say "REGINA" (QUEEN in latin) but due to time constraints once i started writing it out i had no time to go back and reformat it, so it looks like "regal." at least that's what people have been thinking it says. i suppose it still works tho.

i still have some mixed feelings about it, but it's my first legit showing ever so i'm still excited that i completed it. there were a few moments where i almost threw in the towel, but i (secretly) promised to myself and my girlfriend that i would finish it no matter what. well, i'm still feeling the repercussions lol. it was midnight burning+no sleep like 2 nights in a row! ugh.

i found some new tricks with this one! much yummyness in the coming future.

Incredible. The lighter tone of the face, upward angle, and metallic crown draws the eye up, leaving great space of the bottom portion.

thank you! the lighter face tone may actually be attributed to the faulty lighting (it was the best shot i could after an all-nighter), but the other points were more intentional.

my back hurt for like 3 days after i was done with this, from being twisted and bent over it for so long. it was serious, crazy time-crunch. no bueno.

Time-crunching.. I advise against it, but it does present some interesting ideas in terms of time-SAVING, non-botch, Doom’ll smash the mic like β€œno, me first”,
they get sloppy seconds after we stop wreckin', and they had a choppy check-in.

yeah man, i was definitely experimenting in that direction with this piece. i'm incorporating more realistic attributes, a more matured realistic-ish style. the hair was originally going to be way more defined, but the materials weren't cooperating, so i went all black fill.

good looks on the props again son!
the canvas is 18x24. i wanted to go bigger, maybe 30x30, or even hitting 40, but alas.
