Description
On the wild frontier, an imperial carrier is a rare bastion of order and civilization to the troops and pilots stationed so far from the galactic core. Every day, they see the chaos and squalor reigning in the Outer Rim, piracy and organized crime, smuggling rings, and slavers. All the worst elements of villainy grew fat and strong under the corrupt regime of the Republic, making the outer systems now a prime example of the failings of a weak state.
Some imperial officers and governors are convinced this blatant misery is more effective than any propaganda or imperial indoctrination. They request recruits for frontier assignments, keeping them in line with a few choice veterans, to ensure anyone serving under their command has witnessed the lows to which humanity can fall if left to the chaotic whims of the alien cultures settling so far out.
After just a few weeks in the jungles, desert, or icy wastes of the outer colonies, any soldier will have come to truly value the stable luxury an imperial starship provides. Such experiences do more to cement the necessity of imperial rule than a thousand stirring speeches.
