White light bleeds from the Seething Sun, piercing the mists of the outer world where ships make their way to the new lands below. The sunward sailors know the vicious light, know to keep their covers shut all day. So high as they go, the danger of the heat is too great to risk being on deck.
But among those clouds near the edge of the world, there is said to be one route safe from the fire, where the mists rise high enough to the sky to dull the light and tame the sun. That passage, known as the Sunrise strait, is sought after by every ship's navigator. It marks the safest, perhaps only possible route to make the journey to the new lands below, allowing the crew to go out on the rigging.
