Sophie was hopelessly lost.

The last week had been grueling. The Athens International Film Festival wasn’t as prestigious as Cannes, but a lot of important people in the industry were in attendance. Film festivals were not just about watching chic indie movies and partying; a lot of networking took place behind the scenes. Actors stood a good chance of making connections with filmmakers in search of stars for their next project.

At this point in her career, after the way critics had trashed her performance in Dark Phoenix, Sophie really needed to make those connections.

Of course, Sophie’s fans still loved her, regardless of what the critics thought of her acting. Between the fans wanting selfies and the Paparazzi stalking her for ‘candid’ photos, she hadn’t had much time to relax in between the screenings and the parties. Now that the festival was over, she was looking forward to spending a few days relaxing and enjoying the balmy weather of this Mediterranean country.

She was thinking about heading up north to check out the fabled beaches at Halkidiki, but before she did that, she wanted to savor the exotic sights and sounds of Athens – away from the more commercialized zones that typically catered to tourists. That was how she ended up lost in a residential neighborhood off the beaten track, wandering through a maze of narrow streets and alleys.

“Sophie!” a voice called out behind her.
