Description So one day, Yamikari decided to pay Marwan's house a visit. They had a lunch in Marwan's kitchen, eating traditional Malaysian delicacy. Here, Marwan is teaching Yamikari how to eat with his hand. Traditionally, Malaysians (well, the Malays, that is) eat with their bare hands. It doesn't matter if you're right- or left-handed: It is proper table manners to eat with only your right hand. Because, well, Malaysians traditionally clean themselves with their left hands...

Commission for I'm so sorry this took too long to finish than I expected.

Thanks. I did a lot of work on the background. That's the main reason why this pic took so long to finish, really.

Here it's normal to eat with cutlery. I suppose that's why I prefer eating with my hands? >_>

Hmm... Well, all I can say is that everyone has their own preferences with how they want to eat. In Malaysia, it's also normal to eat with cutlery, too. It's just that many Malaysians prefer to eat with their hands, due to tradition.

Nice job, especially with integrating the background & foreground. It has a pleasant overall composition I'd say, hahah.

Though, you must have been sick of drawing straight lines once you'd finished, lol!

Thanks. Sorry, but it's proper table manners in Malaysia to not leave any leftovers, unless you're genuinely full.

Thanks a lot Marwan!!
It is an awesome artwork and it is very cool to see all those details on the background!!
The perspective is also very nice and comfortable to look. I like these kind of perspectives!!

I'm liking very much how your place looks too and I would be glad to eat that way with you, it's not different at how I eat the fish in here. The rice is the one I take with spoon normally but I would gladly try out with my hands, it is not a big deal.

The characters were very well done and have appropriate poses for the situation. I am liking Marwan's pose the most because just by his hand in that way it makes to look like if he was talking for real. (this doesn't mean Yamikari's pose is bad though)

Thanks a lot for taking my commission and don't worry for taking that much time, I knew this would be very cool at the end.

Cute artwork there!
Interesting nod to tradition, too. I mean, I've always used a knife and fork. I didn't know eating with just fingers was actually acceptible these days.

I'm sure this would suit my rat character, Spencer, just fine, though... his table manners (as far as using cutlery are concerned) are atrocious! He just uses both hands and his mouth!

Thanks. Well... Malaysia is not the only county that eat their foods with their bare hands. When I visited Indonesia a few years ago, I noticed that people there eat their foods with their bare hands, too. (And again, using only their right hand.) I'm not sure if other neighboring countries in Southeast Asia also eat foods this way, too.

Of course, all restaurants would still need to provide forks and spoons, though. Eating noodles, for example, because of the obvious difficulty of eating with hands, require the fork to eat. Also, some people, like foreigners travelling to Malaysia, and even some locals, would rather prefer using fork and spoon to eat.

OK Mind you, having said about cutlery, we might still eat things like take-away meals or at finger buffets without cutlery... though, if it involves something like baked beans in barbeque sauce, that's another matter...
Well, fingers were invented first, anyway!
