Digging through the archives I came across this gem that I am now wondering how I could have missed the first time around. This was from my trip to Yosemite National Park in October 2011.

Our first morning in the park we rose early to head into the park and hopefully catch the sunrise as it slowly entered Yosemite Valley. While the sky was not really cooperating, and in fact was rather boring, we were treated to a show as the light slowly spilled over the tops of mountains and climbed up and across all the sheer cliff faces that surrounded us.

From the meadow in which we were standing, we had clear views of Half Dome as well as Upper Yosemite Falls, which is pictured here. This image was taken just as the days new light hit the falls, adding some wonderful orange and pink colors to an already stunning scene. The glow from the new light lit up one side of the mountain while the other remained mostly in shadow, creating some wonderful contrasts against the vibrant colors provided during that golden hour.
