The movie hasn't been out for more than a week yet, and I'm already SICK of all the "OMG YOU SEE DR. MANHATTAN'S PENIS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE MOVIE. OMG BLUE DICK. GROSS EW." complaints.
It's a Penis. Get over it.
I'm talking to all you guys out there, especially everyone who is now refusing to see the movie because of it, or thought the overall movie was ruined by the presence of a little male nudity.
If you're a guy who saw this movie and felt really uncomfortable and self-conscious every time Dr. Manhattan's big blue peener was on-screen - GOOD. How do you think us gals feel every time we see just about any new movie that comes out that's above a PG rating? At least the big guy wasn't involved in some gratuitous sex scene.
So to everyone who cant seem to get the DICK out of their asses, I respectfully ask you to shove it.
Anyway... feverish ranting aside... I really liked the move C: A lot. We went to the Thursday midnight release... in IMAX. I went in not knowing a thing about it, and I left thoroughly entertained. ^^
So, Who watches the Watchmen?... Turns out, I do
And you should too.... despite what your freaked out male friends have told you. x3

RIGHT? That's how I felt... I mean, really, a blue dong was the most shocking thing in that movie? How about the somewhat gratuitous sex scene? Oh, but wait.. that one had boobies in it... nevermind. It's fine.

It was also made up for by 1. Also being in the comic and 2. Having the most hilarious background music of all time. I can never listen to Hallelujah the same way again.

People just annoy me when they get like that. So it's fine when a woman's wearing nothing but dental floss and a smile, but if you see a penis, AW MAH GAWD this is horrible! Especially when it's actually pretty downplayed, as opposed to something out of an 80s slasher flick or a Michael Bay film. But yeah, Watchmen is right up there with some of my absolute favorite movies (V for Vendetta being my #1), so I didn't mind it at all.

I know what you mean. They didn't exactly ZOOM IN on his junk or make it the focal point of a certain shot like they do with a woman's body... I'm not one of those people who get offended by gratuitous nudity (annoyed, maybe), but c'mon, at least have a sense of equality about it!
(and V for Vendetta is fucking amazing.

For me, the Manhattan nudity was the one redeeming quality of the film. But different people, different tastes, I guess.

I remember seeing this movie in theaters. I wasn't freaked out by the nudity, but I think I was so pissed at how it wasn't faithful to the book (something you notice a lot more if you read the book before seeing a movie based off it,) I didn't notice the blue nudity. Seriously through out the film I just wanted to yell at the screen, "THAT WASN'T IN THE BOOK ASSHOLE,"

Rorschach was in there enough for me to stop caring. Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. It's not like the guys are seeing something they don't have themselves, even though it probably isn't blue.

I was mostly watching it for Rorschach, but that I did notice... Well, not like the guys have much to complain about, they had to see his man-bits a couple of times, while we got to see Silk Specter undress and almost get raped, Silhouette and her girlfriend naked and murdered, and Laurie and Dan get it on multiple times.
Like I said, I was mostly in it for Rorschach.

I love the graphic novel... and I was impressed how well they translated it into a movie... a lot of the original grit and darkness was kept in, and many of the scenes were incredibly close to the original... but I gotta say, I think I like the graphic novel just a little bit more... x3
