When she rejoined the other viking teens at their table, they were all oddly quiet. They glanced at her and then at Hiccup and then back at her in almost comical confusion.

Snotlout was the first to speak. "Are you feeling alright, Astrid? You look kind of faint. Can I get you something?"

Tuffnut leaned over and said, "Did that little creep say something bad to you? Because if he did, you just let me know, and I'll give him a beating he won't forget!"

"No!" Astrid blurted out and then eased back down to her usual cool tone. "No, I'm fine. Just leave that little creep alone. Okay?"

To this, Snotlout, Tuffnut, and Ruffnut reacted by giving Astrid a look of shock and horror.

Ruffnut pushed Tuffnut down the bench, leaned in close to Astrid, and whispered, "We'll talk later....girl to girl."

Astrid flashed a tense grin to Ruffnut and whispered back between her teeth, "Yes, I definitely need to talk to you about this....girl to girl."

And over across the room, at a table all by himself, Hiccup enjoyed the most wonderful cold soup he had ever had!
