I worked a long time on Elsa’s style. I wanted her to be a woman of power, but still beautiful and even sexy. I wanted her to be edgy and modern because that’s exactly who her character is. She pushes the boundaries. This is why I gave her a super short dramatic cut. I pictured after her breakout film Frozen released and her hairstyle caused an explosion in hair braid popularity, she needed a dramatic change.
I went very dark and smoky for her eye makeup to really frame her icy, blue eyes. But, I balanced that with a very nude, glossy lip. As far as the tweed coat, I wanted something that gave her the look of royalty like a cape (She is Queen after all). Yet, she’s only holding it over her shoulders since “the cold doesn’t bother her anyway.”
I wanted her to be light and monotone in color. I had to though, give her pops of blue. Even the “frost” jewelry she’s wearing.
But to finish her look I gave her peacock blue, sparkly heals. I wanted her to have a spot of glam and fun because her powerful look is quite serious.
