Yeah, that'll work I think...I did it this way cause I thought it would be easy...then I did it, and realized, it's not all that easy...but I'll still probably do a painting of this one, and see how that goes..

I'm gonna do a few with colored paper, when I get the chance, just to see what happens then...

great one! I like this technique - simply hard, hardly simple. :] Did you use any help of a computer? :>

but yes, I used it for the layout part, then went about just "coloring" (and mom thought those coloring books were a waste....lol)

A little bit, just to get the idea going...going to do some eventually like I did in my design classes, where each square in the grid is it's own little design area....should be interesting..

I am going to, now that you mention it...I just need to get to the art store, for I have no colored paper, and a little afraid to use my markers yet...but soon, I want to play with a few colors here and there. I bought a print at a garage sale last summer that is just black and white witha few colors in the hair and lips, etc. and totally want to get that style down...

thank you very much...been wanting to do these for a while, but thought people would wonder why I did something so simple....then I drew this one, and realized...It's not that simple...(wow does that sound like my life at times...lol)

Wow, is awesome. I love pen and ink work, and I'd probably like it more if I was able to do it. Last year in art pen and ink drove me crazy. Are you using a calligraphy pen?

mattyrich In reply to wordshandshearts [2008-05-28 19:15:55 +0000 UTC]
actually I used a Rapidograph pen for this one. They have a much nicer ink flow to them, and are easier to control when filling in lots of space...you should check em out, they just rock..

I definitely will because I have no idea how people use calligraphy pens so well, I went to the art show at my school tonight and there were some and they were ridiculous .

Caligraphy can be fun...I actually got into it from copying the Sporting News label, hard to learn, but once you get it down, you can really have fun with it...just an elegant way to address labels, write letters...etc...
