Honestly if you wanted to do this right ill rearrange the controls for you to make this process a lot smoother.

Here we go.

L Trigger - Aim Down Sights / Spider Ball
L Bumper - Alt Combo + Missile / Grapple Beam
L Analog - Movement *click to run*
L Arrows - Beam / Visor Selection

R Trigger - Shoot Beam
R Bumper - Missile / Power Bomb
X - Morph Ball
Y - Action
A - Crouch / Dodge
B - Jump / Screw Attack
R Analog - Looking Around

Start - Customization for the suits, inventory, etc. Main HUB for data, bestiary, progress, maps, objectives, etc.

What I would do more or less bc were in a new age of gaming and keeping the same controls as before would be very frustrating and difficult not to mention it would kill your hands after a while.

Id like to keep the constant 3D until Morph bc it keeps the investigative and data gathering part of the game much more engaging than running around in 3rd person and only while doing the speed running and screw would be fine. its hard bc the 2D aspect of metroid and 3D aspect separately are amazing but don't do well together bc trying to cram too much will just ruin the game and have consequences to overall gameplay capacity like Other M with the fact that you couldn't move during first person then everything was auto aim for 3rd thats just horrible it was visually appealing but it sucked getting through that game.

I'm hoping for extreme open world and a vast inventory for this new game like they did for Breath Of The Wild, that game came back with a vengeance and its amazing so a game like metroid that already has a brilliant lore needs to be brought up the ranks. Also Samus has the ability to merge other tech into her suit to apply it for her needs so I mean a shit ton of suits and beams and rare abilities would be pretty awesome.

L trigger aim down sights? Nintendo always makes that the targeting control.
Do you play a lot of xbox?

No I'm a PS player, actually I was playing a lot of the Destiny 2 Beta over the weekend and playing as the hunter is basically like Samus, so I got stuck on that for a bit.
Playing the originals made me realize that when you Lock On it made playing a but more rigid and it felt more like railroad track syndrome after a point it got boring and would cramp your hand occasionally.
If you played Metroid Prime Hunters you'd get why I said Aim down sights bc for the different modes you'd gain some guns acted different depending on the action of the L trigger which gave access to things like a sniper which was fun at the time and made the game that much harder since you had to ACTUALLY aim with it.
It was actually R but you get the idea.

Did you play metroid with the wii controls? You could target, but you still had to aim

I've played every single one, back when it first came out on GameCube then years later when Metroid Prime Trilogy came out, I loved the controls but for the switch it need to open up the different buttons it can use for a more immersive style of gameplay.

Depends on what different types of people consider immersive gameplay

Would you like to wait years for a game that was only the old controls, updated graphics and was able to be beat within a week?
That's what happens when you don't innovate.
And also why Breath Of The Wild is doing fantastically because they changed the overall dynamic of the game and how to play it.

Again, depends on what the different players enjoy. Some people might prefer that one week of fun game to the detailed open world play that lasts longer, who knows. Me personally, I'm not against the new, as long as it keeps that magic alive that nintendo does for me. And then someone else might be all for the most realistic, most dark, most mature themed out there, maybe another for the fps element, another for the action, another for story, another for strategy, another for sandbox, and another for gameplay, on and on etc. So many different types of people out there, and it's just hard to have a perfect "one size fits all" formula.

I'm really curious about how metroid prime 4 is going to work on the switch.

Me too. They'll probably stick with the first person style gameplay.

This is cool, I would love to see what kind of Metroid game would be made based on these controls.

I would love to see a 3d 3rd person metroid game.

Hmm... That's a pretty good start.
Switching the prime series control 1st person with the Other M was doing in 3rd person.

I like the 1st and 3rd person compatibility, I just don't like the way Other M did it, so I made it full camera and character mobility in both 1st and 3rd person views.
