Ah, I must admit that's an interesting concept - I assume the monsters that die naturally are monsters that 'fall down' and have yet to dust. I have always thought it was odd, having people showing that only specificΒ items remain, such as Papyrus' scarf, but in that case, what would be so special about that particular article of clothing? Perhaps you could argue that clothing or items on a monster's person at the time that hold some sort of significantΒ value to the monster would not vanish due to perhaps a strong connection to the monster's magic - however, in that particular case it could also be argued that when the monster dies the connection with said item would disappear and the items too would dust as there is no longer anything holding them in the physical realm. Do you consider that both human-made and monster-made items would both vanish? I mean an item of clothing for example that is strongly connected to a monster I can see vanishing upon their death, but what about something that was made by and human and found in the dump for example? Would that too disappearΒ even though it is not linked to a monster by magic or any other for of soul connection? If it does not, then perhaps Papyrus' scarf wouldn't vanish as it was, as at least you've headcannoned, found in a pile at the dump.Β
Lol excuse the rambling, I had questions that need answering xD

CorrupteNightshade In reply to Tyrantina [2016-11-25 19:07:37 +0000 UTC]
Maybe the reason the scarf didn't disappear is because Sans may have been the one that made it for Papyrus...so it didn't disappear...
Well...that is just my guess as to why it didn't disappear...

Tyrantina In reply to CorrupteNightshade [2016-11-26 11:28:15 +0000 UTC]
Hmmm I see where you're coming from, and understand what you're saying. You theorise that if Sans made the scarf it would be connected to his magic rather than Papyrus', and therefore when Papyrus dusts it would remain, yes?Β

Maxlad In reply to Tyrantina [2016-11-25 10:58:23 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that's always bugged me about one small item being left behind, or even all of their clothes. We see their entire selves dust before our eyes- I mean I know it's a game mechanic and it would be silly to have armor/clothes drop to the floor after they dust BUT STILL.
I would say that yes- both human made and monster made items should disappear if a monster dies whilst wearing it. The only exception would be if a human dies wearing things- obviously they just become a dead body.. on that note- isn't it interesting that a humans soul can break before their body falls? When it's the opposite to monsters.. I suppose that shows how powerful humans are in comparison.
The only trouble I have justifying this headcannon is of course.. the gold you win by defeating the monsters. But you win it regardless of sparing or killing them. So I don't know..
π: 0 β©: 1
Tyrantina In reply to Maxlad [2016-11-26 11:35:15 +0000 UTC]
Yes, yes I see what you mean *nods*
Well, considering the fact a human remains after death due to it's physical 'living' form, it is understandable that a fragile soul comprising of only magic and determination would shatter before the body falls. I mean, I theorise that monster bodies are not made up ofΒ cells and are in fact simply atoms held together by the magic of their soul - the monster's soul is> them. However, with humans, their body is made up of living cells, and thus when a human dies the cells do not die straight away and remain alive for a short period, keeping the body intact until it is eventually degraded. Lol, I'll explain that theory further in my book thing that I showed a while back- but you gather the general idea.Β
Yeah, I can't really find a good reason for that other than 'it's just what happens in RPGs- you kill and enemy you get gold' perspective.Β

Yes. This is my opinion too (but I also like Sans with Papyrus scarf, it's just not logical. I mean. Why the scarf? Why not all the other clothes? Or are they all not dusted too? Do I leave everywhere piles of clothes on the ground. Should I go back and clean this up?)

Maxlad In reply to Sofffie [2016-11-25 06:08:20 +0000 UTC]
Yesss, I'm glad.
That bugs me too! I'm sure the headcannon came about because of the items you pick up through the underground, but I doubt those would have come from fallen monsters..
π: 0 β©: 1
Sofffie In reply to Maxlad [2016-11-26 12:40:00 +0000 UTC]
I somehow thought, they come from the fallen humans... you know... seven weapons, seven pieces of armour, seven humans...
But they also can be random things someone lost, or someone is selling.
π: 0 β©: 1
Maxlad In reply to Sofffie [2016-11-28 02:43:37 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I considered that too! Since most of the items could be easily dropped or left where they are. I sometimes wonder if Asgore actively sought out the children when they first appeared but gradually stopped going further out, and that's why there's equipment as far as the MTT Resort
π: 0 β©: 1
Sofffie In reply to Maxlad [2016-11-29 16:52:14 +0000 UTC]
My theory is, that Frisk is the first human that reached Asgore alive. And all the other humans died near the places, where the equipment can be found. For example one could have not even survived the fall or died in one of the traps, and that's why you find equipment in the ruins.
