This wild bird allowed me to get within about 6 feet and take as many photos as I wanted. Thank you Mel - the bird was so obliging I couldn't believe my eyes! I was sure to thank her, out loud, before I left, and walked away blinking hard. Interaction with wild animals is always such an unbelievable privilege and touches my soul.

You should see my Anna. She gets all teary eyed around animals as well. I live in sincere hope that she will soon develop a career working with them. That is her aim in life.
