the description on google from the creators was that kovu was simply chosen to be the new kind once scar passed on, kovu was born after scar died or at least RIGHT before 
he chose him because scar simply had no kids :3 who adopt if you are the guy who can just mate with any lioness he wants and just have his own kid to take his place? simple because he didn't want one hahaha i researched it because i was very bored at like 4 AM

Interestingly enough, Kovu was originally scripted to be Scar's son, but they cut that out because it would be an incestuous dilemma if he hooked up with Kiara.

And since then crazy fans keep arguing whether or not Scar fathered Nuka, Vitani and Kovu XD

I'll admit, for a while I believed Scar was Nuka's father. But then I read something from about how she contacted a fact checker from Disney and asked if that was true. The answer: no.
As for Kovu and Vitani, I don't think they're either Scar's OR Zira's. I'm with that Kovu's parents were Chumvi and Kula's and I think that Vitani was Tojo and Tama's.

As I said, every one has his own theory ^^
If you want my opinion, Nuka and Vitani are both Scar's cubs with Zira while Kovu has different parents but has been adopted by Scar. (and I don't really care about what the person who worked on SP said since if you ask some other persons who were on the first TLK movie they'll tell you that for example Simb' cub at the end is supposed to be a boy.)
Anyway, yay for fanfictions and fan theories

This is beautiful. And I love the fact that The Prince Of The Pridelands is turning his back on Scar. You ought to draw Zira, having returned and Kovu, declaring his love and allegience for his Family and King and Queen, as in Simba, and Nala, and he staits that if necessary he will fight to protect them.
