This is so gorgeous! I love bird paintings--mine never look as good as this though! I really like those flowers too. They look like they're made of white chocolate!

Honestly, that is some really excellent work. It is such a peaceful soothing soft piece to look at ... not busy at all. If you want to see what I mean by busy myself, look at that Ugly Forest picture that I tried to take and just sent to my scraps section - now that is what I would call busy (warning, looking my hurt your eyes - ha).

You really should put some of your work out there in a noticeable public location. For example, when visiting the arboretum and the two zoos here, or even other public places like the library and airport, I've found MANY beautiful paintings and photographs hanging on the walls which were created and donated (or one temporary display) by various individuals. Of course someone somewhere must preview and approve all of these before being displayed because I have yet to find anything grossly amateurish hanging on the walls (ha, you know how we all can sometimes think something we did looks really good when in fact everyone else isn't impressed what-so-ever - ha), but I noticed many people do stop and appreciate those pieces of art (including myself), and I've noticed that down in the corner of many pieces on display now, in addition to the creators signature, there is a URL to their web site/store, and I've seen people write that stuff down, presumably for later follow-up once home.
BTW, white balance is (for the most part) the digital equivalent of placing a tinted filter between your film and the scene being projected upon in an attempt to correct for various tined lighting sources. Color correction can be done on the camera at the time the picture is taken, or later during printing when the image is projected onto paper. Although there are advantages of filtering out a certain spectrum of light waves before it is allowed to hit the digital sensor, most people don't have a big box full of all the various expensive filters one would need to do this correctly (and quality filter cost $$$). On a digital camera however, one can instantly establish what is suppose to be white in order to remove unwanted hue, or they can totally confuse the camera and create some unusual surreal effects, especially if you also use at least two different colored light sources in your scene. "Oranges are white, really they are, trust me!" If you get into photography and start playing around with the white balance, don't become discouraged - ha, 9 times out of 10 the results are awful, but every once in a white you'll hit upon a scene with just the right colors with just the right lighting and you'll just accidentally hit upon a unique setting which will surprise you. Of course I can imagine all digital cameras do this differently and some may not be as flexible (or more flexible), but that's part of the fun and challenge: figuring it out, learning, improving, teaching, sharing ... and above all else: enjoying!
Anyhow ... you have REAL talent (in fact I see a lot of that here on DA). Not many people out in the real world are able to create in their mind what you see and in the way you see it, let alone are able to get their hands to cooperate in expressing what it is they are imagining in such an impressive and effect and tender way as you do! You should have no problem getting some local public exposure with your talent ...

It is beautiful, of course. Wonderful softbright light (yes, I meant to run those 2 together) soft surfaces with delicate coloring and handling.

I'm not terribly happy with the composition, as usual, but I'm not unhappy with the shading, colour, etc
Thanks for your comment!

Thanks SD....you're brave to let a pigeon sit on your head, I'd be awfully nervous about getting a present I didn't want lol I like feeding them too (the wild domestic pigeons, I mean, these guys are too nervous to eat from people as far as I can tell)
I guess I could go back and shade the wing a bit more...the feathers are a bit iridescent, so it wouldn't hurt to add more depth at some point. I'm so tired right now I don't even want to think about starting, tho!

uhh, i might have added this to my favorites twice, sorry. The flowers are so beautifully detailed, and the pigions wing reflects the great colour some of them have in them.
