Description
This is the second image in my short Space Marine deviation series.

"Brother Marine Mariuc Torius used to be a very generic marine. Until the fateful day when he found himself fighting the dreadful Tyranid hordes. A gruesome abomination known as the Carnifex approached him and his squad's trench and as the marines braced for the charge it stopped dead in front of them, beginning to build up charges of Bioplasma to unleash upon the outclassed marines. Realising the bioplasma would obliterate him and his brothers pitched together in the trench, Brother Marine Mariuc shoulder-charged the fel brute with his massive armored bulk, attempting to throw off its aim. The heroic charge cost him an arm and half his face as his hardened ceramite shell was melted away by the plasma as if it had been nothing but skin.

Although he managed to save his Brothers, his sergeant had not been so blessed, the bioplasma richocheting of a solid surface and scoring a direct hit on the unfortunate Marine. As he lay dying he pledged what was left of his mastercrafted armor should go to Mariuc as he had safeguarded the squad where he could not.

It was decreed that, from that day on, Mariuc should forever bear the title Venerated Brother Marine."
