Yes, it's my opinion that the specific elements of cosmic horror and the otherworldly stuff are best left to the imagination of the reader.

I love the composition and the gloomy color palette. It makes a truly eerie, atmospheric setting.
Now I'm going to reread The Music of Erich Zann; it was one of my favorite Lovecraft stories

Thanks. That was my intention - to create an atmospheric, mystic feel. The colours of the original image were a bit cheesy (mcrassusart.deviantart.com/art⦠)
I wasn't pleased with the result so I completely changed the colours.Β
The Music of Erich Zann is also one of my favourite HPL stories. The fact that the mystery isn't fully explained, and the final twist is completely unpredictable (unlike in other stories) contributes to its strong effect. Lovecraft loved it as well.
