Did you use any references at all? Or have you painted something similar before perhaps?
To be able to paint some of the specific detials I imagine you either painted that type of stuff many times, or had references at some point. Like viewed some photos before hand or something.
Really good though. I have been trying to fill my brain up with information so I can draw and painter better from my mind. I would like to see a video of you painting a day time scene with buildings or something in the background.

Nope, it pretty much appeared 'on the fly', knew I was going to do a street scene, but thats as much as I had before I started, I very rarely use ref apart from quick studies and family portraits, 99% of my gallery is straight imagination, I've built up knowledge of surfaces and lighting and studied to get to a point where I can get my ideas out without needing any outside influences as it makes a big difference in what I do, being able to paint from a quick brief, quickly, I observe a lot, but I'm nowhere near where I want to be yet (if you take a look at my first speedpaints, you can see the progression)
Been meaning to make more vids, lack of time etc

That is awsome, I hope to one day be able to paint just about anything I can imagine with no references, but I am not there yet. Do you recall what books you used to study perspective. That is my biggest weakness.

to be honest, I'm pretty weak there too, tend to eye it in, organic approach, rather than go the technical route too often, learned what little I do know online, just google perspective tutorials, I found this more help than a tutorial though - [link]

Loved seeing the demo of you painting. Do you always start with a monochromatic pallette to keep youself focused on the composition and lighting? Or was it just a choice for this particular piece?

This is a lovely image... I was going to download the rar (I think a tutorial from you would be fantastic) but it's not there anymore.
