seems like you mostly used dodging and burning for shadows and highlights
not bad, but for a more solid edge you might want to try using the lasso tools, and select a darker or light color for shadows and highlights and apply the blur or smude tool to blend them together, gradient tool also works well for this, keep up the coloring, still looks great

Yeah this was my first time colouring anything, I did it over a year ago and i was using a mouse. I know a lot more now than I did then but thanks for your input, I'm always on the look out for better ways to colour

i'm kinda in the same boat you are trying to get better with the coloring, either I find a way to do it by hand before scanning the image or I buy a wacom tablet and try to practice more that way rather than by using the mouse, just can't figure on what a good medium would be to color the images by hand

Yeah I had a go at colouring vegita using coloured pencils which i put in my scraps gallery. Problem is when i scanned it it took a lot of the colour out of it.

Really Good for a first time. Congrats. Sunfire is awesome. The background could use some work tho. Once you figure out how to do all the cool effects and stuff that other people do you should be awesome.

Your first time coloring?
Day-um. xD Great job!
(I submitted something, too, but meh. It's not that great.)
Your coloring of Storm is beautiful. Most of these have good base colors, but a lot more highlight (and some shading) should be added in. I'm not a huge fan of your background, I can tell you didn't put as much heart into it as you did with some of the figures. It looks as though you put down base colors and then forgot to color in the scaffolding. I think it would also benefit you amazingly to get a tablet (unless you're more comfortable with a mouse? I have wrist injuries from trying to color with it.) and a book on Photoshop techniques. Opacity layers and effects and different brushes would benefit you immensely. Er . . . that is if you're using Photoshop.
I have some other suggestions, but I'll leave you with that for now. Amazing piece, especially as your first color piece! I can see you going far if you keep working on your technique. ^^ Good job and good luck in the competition!
