Thank you Douglas! The location is in Lone Pine, California along the eastern Sierras, and the area is actually called the Alabama Hills. In Lone Pine, there is a movie museum with archives of all the movies filmed in the Alabamas. Great views of Mt. Whitney from there as well. I would encourage any photographer to check out the Lone Pine-Bishop-Mammoth Lakes area where the late Galen Rowell lived and died. Having lived in CA, the eastern Sierras are a thing of beauty for landscapes, much more so than the western, IMO.
