I don't hate people who draw ZiM anime, I hate that people ignore his original style and try to make him all 'kawaii desu!!1!'. It's a near insult to the fandom and just makes me angry that fans of the show have to suffer with others who (usually) know nothing about it and yet still draw it in a different style. If you've attempted to draw him in his original Jhonen style but stopped I don't hate that you've given up, I commend you for trying at all; going from anime to Jhonen is a lot harder than Jhonen to anime.

And that's the best way to do it. If you end up drawing him anime in the future though, you'll still know how to draw him in his regular style.

Oh, of course. And I can understand if someone can't draw ZiM in his style but can the attempt before the murder be an option? I say murder because they butcher him quite brutally.

The only time I try to draw Zim in anime is when I'm making fun of fangirlyness. That's pretty much the only time. The rest: I've worked pretty dang hard (sitting on my but all day drawing Zim over and over) to get that style down and by golly I'm sticking to it. And although it somehow is a dificult style (for me), I get annoyed when the only ZIM fanart I ever seem to see is anime, or Zim is 6 feet tall, or everyone looks majorly anorexic (even though that is sort of Jhonen's style...), or OCs have boobs, or... Gah! Even if it's a poor job of drawing in style, it's better than just giving up and drawing anime.

Jhonen's style is a bit hard to master but when people don't even try after a couple of attempts, it's kind of disappointing. Anime is not ZiM's natural look, so he looks freaky when drawn in such a way.

XDDDD What I really don't like is when people don't even try to draw ZiM correctly. If you practice, it comes easy, but when people just don't try, that's when I really get angry. I admire people who can wrap ZiM up in their own style and make it look good, but if they've experimented with the original style that can make me doubly happy. It just shows that they can go between both ways of drawing ZiM and understand a little more on how it's done. That and the style is super easy once you have it down. X33333

anime/manga is fine but it doesn't mix in with Zim. The only style you call call anime that i actually accept for zim is bleedman's style and his comic's are absolutely amazing.

I like bleedman's style; he is good, but I'm also kinda sad that he hasn't really come up with his own stuff. All of his stories are just really big fan fics and it sucks because he has such great potential.

Obviously Invader Zim isn't an anime. I don't know anyone who actually thinks it is. I can draw the characters in there original style but I also like to draw them in my own style, which is an anime style. I personally think it's more original than copying JV's style (no matter how awesome it is).

So true. XD For some reason, Invader Zim has been called an 'American anime' before - how, is beyond me. We mostly draw Zim and the other IZ characters in anime form just to differ from the usual - we aren't discrediting Jhonen's awesome style.
Some artists like to do interpretations of other peoples' characters in their own style - and some people's main style is anime form.

XD *Cotntinues drawing anime Dib and Zim* I only draw them that way because at Jhonen's style I am inept, and I don't wish to dishonour his name by doing rubbish interpretations of his own work. I know you said we should at least try, but trust me, my patience, and a lot of others, lacks when it comes to drawing in an awesome style that's difficult to replicate. XD

ZiM just doesn't play as an anime. I know they did try something of the like in the 'Hamstergeddon' episode, where ZiM's constant spitting into the mic at Peepee was similar to an anime-ish (or even creepy chibi) gesture, but that doesn't make the rest of the show so.
