Oh man. I went to see Iron Man a couple of days ago. In my humble opinion, it is the best superhero movie...of all time? I don't know if it trumps the original Superman, but it comes the closest of any superhero movie I've seen lately. It's definitely up there in the top few.

Now, I don't know anything about the original Iron Man. They may have slaughtered the story here. I don't know. In any case, judging on the movie's own merits, it has a wonderful reveal of every single plot point (well at least most of them). They avoid one of my greatest pet peeves in a superhero movie: when you feel like the characters are stupid for not knowing what you know. They let you know all the secrets at the time the characters in the movie learn them. The tension is JUST right, I think. They also didn't try to explain the technology, which made it more believable. Oh and there was SUCH great characterization. Sure they had their stereotypical static characters in there, but even those were portrayed pretty well. The main character was hilarious and yet deep at times. Tony Stark is such a badass.

And so, inspired as I was, I had to spend a good couple of hours playing with good ol' Photoshop Elements to create this. It could still use some touch-ups and probably a background, but I'm calling it done for now. It's based on this screenshot: [link]
I was SO glad they had that pose. I was looking for the one where he gets really angry at all the injustice and war... and this is it! Actually I was considering doing the pose where he is holding up the unfinished mask, looking at the camera pensively (I think that's where Pepper discovers what he's building), but I think this one captures what I was going for better. You may also take note this wasn't traced. I'm not Bob Sabiston after all A Scanner Darkly, anyone?
