Description

Full Name: Rex Rose

Species: Charmander (Everstoned)

Origin Game: Fire Red (traded over to Leaf Green)

Nature: Relaxed

Moves: Flamethrower, Iron Tail, Aerial Ace, Seismic Toss

Rex is the gifted son of Eliza and Konstantin, two Pokemon who were resurrected from deleted gen 1 files.  Rex (and his younger brother Sal) is a fully new and living creature but he has inherited some of his parents edgelord traits (such as his glitch purple eyes).  He's better than a normal starter Charmander, and he knows it.  He thinks he's the main character of life.  But when he was sent off into Leaf Green, to accompany a new starter (a Bulbasaur named Caesar) through the game, he was shackled with an Everstone, locking him into his unevolved form.  He and his cousin Tortue are part of my living dex, and thus need to stay unevolved until the dex is complete.  In early game, Rex had few cares in the world, but as he grew older and stronger he started to lash out and resent his duties.  He lost his confidence, thinking he could never be a truly great fighter if he can't evolve.  He was wrong - Pokemon is a numbers game and you can level grind almost anything to a point that it can survive the Elite Four.  Rex has returned home, victorious, and his constant angst and rebellion has become endearing.  He has been promised a Mega Stone to replace his Everstone, when the living dex is complete and everyone migrates up to a higher generation.

In his travels, Rex noticed the events around him unfolding in ways identical to his parents' stories about their own adventure.  He has started to show an interest in studying the metaphysics of the games, specifically the ways in which the timelines repeat themselves.  In his future adventures he might be seeing a lot of this, wait until he hears about Moon and Ultra Moon, or about Let's Go Eevee.  Once he gets his Mega Stone he might set off on some new adventure to study the unknown.

Fun fact: the Charmander tail thing holds true even in gijinka form, where he doesn't actually have his tail.  He's deathly afraid of the water, and refuses to leave his Pokeball when the party is surfing.
