Ahhh this was super fun to make; one of the four ideas that have stuck in my head upon rereading Les Misérables... after some artistic liberty on my part, of course

I always used to think (like, when I was 12-14) when making a film adaptation of a book, that... the book was the script... just do as the book says; why is that so hard?
But I realized over time 2 things:
1. Sometimes what works on paper just doesn't work in film; a moment that lasts a few pages can be condensed down to a mere 5 seconds of an expression and music.
2. Film is the Director's medium... they work with a bunch of other artists with differing artistic views, all interpreting and filtering the author's work differently... Everyone looks at the same piece of art differently.

So with that said, when Valjean had to sneak back into the Convent (because he's a 6' grown-ass man who would DEFINITELY get noticed and alarm the nuns around the place when there's only two other guys who are to keep far away from them all in the garden)... he had to hitch a ride in a coffin because, coincidentally, someone died (their body wasn't in there, it was taken elsewhere... the coffin was just for ritual's sake) and he got to be buried outside the convent... then he'd be brought INSIDE by a friend there
Complicated plan where a lot of stuff could go wrong... and, indeed, things went wrong very fast.
They relied on someone else to be there, welp, he was dead... they needed to have the friend come back, but the new guy kept keeping him away... and, worst of all THE AIR HOLES PUNCTURED THROUGH TO ALLOW VALJEAN TO BREATHE A LITTLE WERE COVERED BY 4 SHOVELS WORTH OF DIRT!

Seriously, I know the story, but the way it's described is so... claustrophobic and CREEPY! You're hiding in a coffin; no other choice... you're relying on your buddy on the outside and just everything that COULD go wrong goes wrong-- he ended up passing out due to lack of oxygen
He was revived and okay later, but JEEZ!!

So yeah... dirt wouldn't be pouring in like I drew it here... I just wanted to make it extra spoopy
