A LES MISÉRABLES PIECE AFTER ALL THIS TIME?!
Ok before this discription gets long (sorry, it's gonna happen because of the idea I had) I will say this...
I NEED TO WORK ON DRAWING LIPS! Uggghhh... I tried, OH CRUD-BALLS how I tried... but it kept looking like he had lipstick on or something T_T lol
I am SO WORN OUT FROM MAKING THIS!
Oh, man... I haven't made Valjean in a while so... thbbbbttt Hope it looks okay... His hair was fun to work with 'cause for the most part, I just made up where it went
Also, I REALLY hope he does look wet... was trying... things with the shading... dunno how well that worked
And hey, look at that! Golden colours... my favourite palette

BEWARE! LONG CONTENT DESCRIPTION INCOMING!!
I got thinking, AGAIN, about how certain shots weren't used and deleted scenes, etc, etc, etc... Like, the original cut of this movie was about 3 hours, and I get cuts have to be made and whatnot for time... but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to fantasize a little bit!

Now... there's a point in the film that happens between Fantine's death with Valjean running from Javert and when Valjean actually finds Cosette; if you watch the movie, Valjean clearly has a different coat, but we don't know where he got it, we don't know how exactly he got away aside from jumping in the water... there was a whole scene where it was like a crazy intense game of cat and mouse!

Anyways, I found this GIF... thingy... that was from this scene I think
It was cut for time, but... I've been thinking of a way they could have done it if time wasn't an issue

This is how I figured it would play out, based on bits from the book, the original cut, AND what they could've added as far as music goes

After Valjean dives in the water from the upper floor in the hospital, Javert has to run down the stairs to get out of the building; he couldn't jump in after him because, why start a fight with the guy who could VERY EASILY take him out? lol Also, the water would have damaged his gun; maybe even ruined it.

While underwater, Valjean would have to ditch his coat; it's weighing him down and I don't CARE how strong he is, why create a problem that can be easily avoided? This also explains why he is CLEARLY wearing a different coat when he finds Cosette.... like in the book, he ended buying other sets of clothes later for him and Cosette (okay, he did that after having to escape from being rearrested but WHATEVER! IT WORKS HERE TOO! )

Valjean surfaces as Javert stands on the bridge before the hospital, examining the water wondering where Valjean went; and he is relatively far away, keeping under a harbour/alley area underneath one of the many factories...

Valjean keeps to the shadows and Javert leaves, calling out; Valjean takes a few breaths, and while walking cautiously about, blows out lantern lights in his area.

Javert returns with four other officers whom he instructs to look in different areas; Valjean keeps under the harbour, thinking about which way he could go.

Valjean's attention is brought to the hospital second floor window as Sister Simplice (one of the nun/doctors that looked after patients), walks about the room where Fantine was. His eyes meet with a cart waiting below and Javert standing on the bridge in thought, his back to the cart.

Suddenly, Fantine's body is dropped from the upper floor into the cart below with an unsettling thud that makes Valjean jump a little Javert remains stoic.

THIS is where some music would kick in; there was a bit cut at the end of The Confrontation that I think would work well here!
Very quietly, as Valjean got over his little holy-crap-I-can't-believe-they-chucked-her-out-of-the-window-like-that moment... he would say/sing this line, directing it to Fantine, while Javert would also be very quiet, but also... angry/determined as his words are directed at Valjean, whom he doesn't know is relatively near
Jean Valjean: And this I swear to you, tonight...
Javert: There is no place for you to hide...
Jean Valjean: Your child will live within my care...
Javert: Wherever you may hide away...
Jean Valjean: And I will raise her to the light...
Jean Valjean & Javert: I swear to you... I will be there...

And from there, we would see Valjean slink back into the shadows as Javert looks in his direction, with a narrowing glare, almost CERTAIN he heard something

So, if you can't tell, this ideas been festering in my brain FOR MONTHS!
So FINALLY getting out feels pretty good
