I REGRET NOTHING!!

Don't worry, it's just this piece of Days of Future Past fan art, then two others I'm currently working on, and then I'm done drawing it until it's DVD release, I SWEAR
And besides, this was such a BEAUTIFUL moment; I simply HAD to draw it!
It's one of the few moments in the movie that made me cry... or at least, made me tear up

Art Wise: The reference picture I used was VERY dark, so a lot of it was hard to make out... Charles' messy hair was a little tough 'cause it was a profile view messy hair (on top of it being hard to see anyway) and a lot of the clothing wrinkles and loose hairs I pretty much pulled out of my arse...
but, ohhh my gosh, I HAD SOOO MUCH FUN WITH THE CONTRAST SHADING!
I really do want to get better with using REALLY dark colours in contrast with bright colours; it LOOKS great and I always struggle with doing it because I end up blending everything
But overall, I am VERY happy with this!

Content Wise: Without spoiling anything, let's just say young Charles Xavier (The Professor/leader of the X-Men) is really down in the dumps at the moment  He's not the man that we know he will be... he needs a pick-me up; he needs someone to help him and guide him before he's ready to help or guide anyone else.
And who is given that task?
Logan (Wolverine)
Honestly, I was expecting Logan to falter quite a bit in this. I thought he'd get impatient with him a lot and be blunt, insensitive and rude about the matter; like, "Time is of the essence kid! Snap out of it! "
But... to my surprise, he doesn't! I mean, he does get cheesed off ONCE but, for the most part, he IS patient!
It's like he's channelling the Professor; keeping his calm, reassuring the young Charles, and just... being there for him; mentoring him and helping him the way the older Professor helped him! I mean, if there's anyone who can understand feeling broken/beaten down and feeling like throwing in the towel after losing so much, it's Logan
This is a side to both Logan and Charles I've not seen before... and it's truly beautiful and moving.

So, why talk about it when I can just share the dialogue!
Note: the dialogue may be seen as spoiler... ish? So, skip the dialogue-y bit if you don't the feels to spoiled

Logan:  It's not the machinery, is it?

Charles:  I can't do this. My mind--

Logan:  Yes, you can.

Charles:  No-nn- it won't take it.

Logan:  You're just a little rusty--

Charles:  You don't understand! It's not a question of being rusty; I can flip the switches, I can turn the knobs, but my power comes from here [gestures to his head] It comes from... [gestures to his chest and bites his lip, holding back tears] and it's broken... I feel like one of my students... helpless... [Lowers his head and sighs heavily, speaking in a breaking voice]  It was a mistake coming down here. It was a mistake freeing Erik. This whole thing has been one bloody mistake! I'm sorry, Logan, but they sent back the wrong man!

[Charles wheels himself towards the Cerebro exit; Logan stands still, holding his head down]

Logan: [Lamentingly] You're right... I am. [Charles turns to him, surprised at his words; he shrugs disappointingly and walks up to Charles, speaking softly] Actually, it was supposed to be you... But I was the only one who could physically make the trip... And, uh... I don't know how long I've got here... But I do know, that a long time ago-- actually... a long time from now... I was your most helpless student...  [Bends down to meet Charles' eyes] and you unlocked my mind. You... showed me what I was; you showed me what I could be. I don't know how to do that for you. You're right; I don't... but I know someone who might.

Charles:  What?

Logan:  Look... into my mind

Charles:  You saw what I did to Cerebro... you don't want me inside your head.

Logan:  There's no damage you can do that hasn't already been done, trust me. Come on...

[Charles places his fingers on Logan's temples and closes his eyes, honing his telepathic power to look into Logan's mind. He sees flashes of Logan's future; filled with pain, both physical and emotional; his painful experimentation, friends betraying him, many attempts against his life, friends being killed to spite him, all the wars and death he's seen, him having to kill Jean... All Charles sees is the darkness of his suffering. He stops reading Logan's mind and shudders in fear and sadness]

Charles:  Oh, you poor... poor man...

Logan:  Look past me--

Charles:  [Tears streaming in his eyes as he trembles] No, I don't want... your suffering. I don't want your future!

Logan:  Look past my future... look for your future. [Charles reddened eyes close once more as he calms himself, looking for something more; Logan whispers with reassurance]   That's it... That's it... That's it...
Me: Wehhhhheheheheh-awwwwwwww
