Description

Name: Claire Emanuelle Verdier-Kassab
Age: 26
Birthday: February 14th
Gender: Female
Height: 5'10
Nationality: Franco-Algerian, though currently working and living in Britain.

Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff (Near hatstall, supposedly Slytherin)

Patronus: Bull

Wand Info: Dragon Heartstring - Blackthorn - 13 inches (unyielding)

Occupation: Auror (DEPARTMENT OF MAGICAL LAW ENFORCEMENT) -- for roughly two years

Personality:

POSITIVE - Claire is an extremely hard-working person. She's known to finish every little thing she starts, no matter what it is. She is committeddedicated, but never to a fault; the girl is mindful of the law, and would never work for the unworthy, or for what she considers unnecessary. She's brave without being reckless, and reliable, traits all making her a wonderful auror. She holds little to no grudges, and does well in most social situations, being both outgoing and well-mannered -- but also able to adapt to the people she's dealing with. The woman is imperturbablesharp, and hard to throw off balance in general. She is known to be particularly faithful and loyal to her closest friends, and people who share her beliefs.  NEUTRAL - Oh, she is opinionated. Her being outspoken can often make her quite the loud character; she's also a 'truth-finder', and has little to no tolerance when it comes to lies. Accomplishing goals is often one of her main focus, and so she could be categorized as ambitious. As a result, she became an adventurous character, willing to take risks and dive into the unknown to find the answers she needs. In the same way, that quest for justice can turn her in quite the devil's advocate, until everything is settled; she hates making assumptions. She's also said to be chivalrous; she never refuses a duel when her honor is at stake, and seldom loses them. As for the rest, she does have a sense of humor she tends to keep to herself or for her close friends. She's a gambler, and likes to take risks when the time is just right. All, or nothing.  NEGATIVE - Despite her sociable character, Claire cares little about what people think of her. As a result, she rarely wants to make friends, and would rather focus on work. Her brutal honesty makes her relatively disagreeable. While to some, she may be cruel, to others she is simply too single-minded. Her hyperactive mind makes her often forget about things, but never, ever, she'd admit to her colleagues she's a legitimate scatterbrain. She talks to objects when she's feeling lonely (which happens very often, given the kind of person she is), especially to her wand. As a result, she is hardly approachable, but is said to be a very, very valuable friend, once she's on your side. It is very likely she might just be a little out of touch with her own feelings, or clam up for her own safety.

History:
[TL;DR: Born in an overly rich, pure-blooded household. Her father has well known dark-wizard tendencies. Her mother re-marries a muggle. Parents split, and after certain events, Claire stays with her father. She studies hard to become an Auror, and is sent working in Britain.] Claire is the result of the mix of two very, very rich wizard households. Her father, Aziz Kassab, married Marie Verdier for contacts, money, and plenty of other things he might've needed in his life of high-ranked potioneer - and Marie did just the same. But the two parents split, unable to keep on pretending to love each other after ten years of marriage. They had absolutely nothing in common, and the toxic air of the house wasn't suitable for Claire, who was about eight years old at the time. She went with her mother, the parent she knew best--and the only one who didn't express acceptance of Dark Arts, and extreme distaste when it came to muggles.
Eventually, Claire's mother found love while in vacation in the Midi-Pyrénées the next year with a muggle, Heath, from the United Kingdom. Everything went fast, perhaps a bit too fast: Claire ended up in London a week after her mother's second wedding. At first, the girl and her mother thought about hiding the wizard world - but the day her new husband came early and saw the sponge doing the dishes by itself, let's say that he had serious questions. Her new family understood it all, after a night of talking, with the need of few adjustments. He'd always been quite the eccentric guy, and the fact that this answered many mysteries about his wife lead him to accept it all. Marie thanked the world and whatever lead to this ridiculously smooth situation of tolerance and acceptance, although Heath and Ashley did not always get everything that is going on.
Claire studied at Hogwarts -- she used to be a good student, a Hufflepuff, loved by many. A friendly individual, captain of the Quidditch team for a year, caught up in several, typical, teenage love triangles at the time. A fun-loving girl. Her wizard parents often fought over her custody, through both loyal and unfair means -- the latter, especially from her father. The amount of homework and her friends helped her focus on other things, in any case. That was all until her sixth year, during December; the girl went on holidays with her Father and his new family for Yule, in Alger. Nobody quite knew why, nor how, but a couple of magi from extremists movements, committed several crimes on the outskirts of the city, demanding muggles be ruled out of North-Africa--and then the world. Sadly, Claire and her Mother-in-law were caught in one of the attacks. According to the local report, both women suffered doloris during the event. Both survived, however.
After that, Claire was not quite the same. Her father took advantage of the situation, using his current closeness to the girl to claim custody over her. He more or less estranging her from her mother, and from Britain altogether. Living in Paris, France, at the time, he had her transferred in Beauxbâtons instead of Uagadou--despite knowing the latter much better, for he'd studied here himself.
Forced to repeat a year, the girl locked herself up, did nothing but study, study the best she can; cutting all ties with the people she knew from before. She was to become a Auror, perhaps in order to make sure nobody lived what she had lived. Before she knew it, nearly a decade had passed, and she met all the requirements -- she was to be recruited by France's magical bureaus, but before it all happened, the woman made a strange, strange request. She demanded a transfer to Britain, and asked to meet her mother again. There was no objections from her superiors, for some wished to be on even better terms with the British Ministry; sending Claire over, almost like a gift, seemed like a good idea. Her father himself, was quite upset, but accepted the girl's request, only, and if only she'd come back to France after a maximum of ten years of service.
Two years have passed since then, and Claire has been an exemplary, absolute member of the Auror's Office.Funnily enough, Claire doesn't speak much about her feelings over the suspension of the International Statute of Secrecy. For her, it was bound to happen. All she can say is 'a storm is coming'. Most people assume about her more than they ask. As a result, despite living with muggles for a good portion of her life, she's been often categorized as a pro-separation character... Especially given her Father's pro-dark arts and pureblood tendencies. She is too focused in preventing Dark practitioners from committing crime to openly speak on the subject, at the moment--or perhaps she just doesn't wish to speak of it. What she wants now is a perfect record, a good paycheck to live comfortably, and put the unworthy behind bars.

Extra Information: - She has an overgrown fruit bat pet, Lidiaut. The bat fell into one of her father's dark cauldrons years ago during her Auror training, and has never been quite the same every since. It's a loud, intimidating thing nobody really wants to be around. Thankfully for Claire's acquaintances, he's rarely around himself.
- She still actively practices muggle fencing.
- She lives alone in London, and visits her mother often.
RP Info: I roleplay exclusively through Discord, semi-lit or script. I can do lit if I'm in the mood, but the lengths of my posts highly depends on my mood.

Woah I closed the tab so I'll have to rewrite everything.

Stick to MMO RPing. These communities are solid, provided by game developers (and some express serious interest into their players in terms of RP functions), and last for 15 years top. In the same, way, new content is brought in regularly with patches, both in terms of gameplay or lore. Since these communities aren't art based, you'll find easily around 6000-10 000 English speaking RPers, and if you do commissions, you'll just sit on a fucking goldmine. They are also generally more mature because the games can easily be 18+, so you can find yourself with people who have been RPing for literally ages, know of tabletop and are generally heavy RPers here for legitimate storytelling and collaborative writing.

Thing with DA is that everything is unreliable. Groups get stale within a couple of months after the admins' OTP die, once their school exams get a little too heavy (that's also because the community is young so most RPers are legit, young students/high schoolers), or just because, oh, no i'm too tired. I'll just make another group for the sake of it, though. It's also the size of a small village. When you RP there, you'll easily get around the 50-200 RPers who share your interests on DA.

The community is very very young. I've seen RPers who were around 13, and most communities are often pegi-13, as you've probably noticed. It's extremely hard to make friends who are five years younger than you (or more) when the gap is 15-20. Moreover I had bad case of people lying about their age and I've seen others getting tangled in underage smut RPing (warning, it's illegal.)

As for the people who are over 20... Well, I'm friends with all of the okay ones. //points at you

And the 'not okay ones', well... I've seen mostly condescending, white, transphobic, homophobic and straight up racist gals. It went up to the point that some people wrote stuff like "black little girls are less likely to be adopted/shouldn't be adopted" and "i've never met a /real/ man on deviantART" and the chat mods didn't say or did much to sanction these behaviors, and the rare people who felt offended by these statements either couldn't speak up or got shut down because "nooo! you'll bring in drama!" -- what is drama? I personally don't really know what people here mean by it but it sure as hell assists mods in censoring people they don't specifically appreciate. And I can assure you that when I see my transmen bros being misgendered and called liars, I'm ready to fucking bail out of there.

You know me, even before I came to deviantART to RP, I was roleplaying on World of Warcraft, and I had to adjust with the overly politically correct community here, and I did! I can still do it now, and I love the fact that certain community are art based and give art assignments. I will not say that people RPing here are all shit because it just isn't true, but my personal experience with deviantART, in the latter years, was complete hell. I got legit harassed by fujoshis, up to the point that I had to stick to female characters to avoid forceshipping and unwanted attention. The amount of young girls fetishizing men on men action here is just offensive. But then again, MMORP gets its mesbians (dudebros playing lesbians, you feel), so it's all fair and square lol.

This is my opinion, and it's not made for everyone, and it's really just what applies to me. DeviantART is free, quality MMO RP requires some money. My suggestion is, grab FFXIV when you can, if you can.

The only promising thing on deviantart right now is AA, and I'm willing to give more to it.

ALSO HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAN. LOVE YOU.

Fun fact: I also closed the tab and I had to rewrite all this, fml

First of all, thanks for such a detailed insightful reply, I didn't expect it, so it's much appreciated.
I agree on many of the things you wrote. From my point of view, immaturity and ignorance are the roots of many of the problems you mentioned. I experienced some of them, for example, the age gap which makes things unnecessarily more difficult and the lack of commitment of the admins. Although I had never witnessed cases of transphobia, homophobia or racism, it's not the first time I've heard of those things happening in the community. What I did witness is people fetishizing homosexuality, and it's crazy that you were actually harassed by fujoshis.
I will keep in mind your recommendation. However, MMO's no longer appeal to me that much. I finished my free trial of FFXIV some weeks ago and it looks like a really well-developed world and I'd enjoy RPing there. Thing is that buying the game + transfer to Balmung + monthly fee + living in a country where currency conversion adds extra financial pain is a high price to pay considering that I wouldn't play more than a few hours a week. On the other hand, I like how the commission business sounds, so if that could pay the monthly fee, I'd be willing to invest in the game. Besides, I long for some good RPs. So yes, I'll totally keep it in mind.

Of course, in the meantime, I'll focus on AA (it looks really good and the dedication mods put into it after an year encourages me) and on getting good enough to be able to open commissions.

AND THANKS FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES. ILU TOO.

Man, I'd gladly offer you the base game (it has 30 days of gameplay in it) a transfer to balmung and +60 days of gameplay. I'm currently financially stable enough to do shit like that right now. It might give you time to find yourself good patron. The FFXIV tumblr community is pretty heavy. If you have time to play now or later this summer, I insist. Think of it as a birthday gift.

Thanks, your offer really means a lot, and I appreciate it. But then again, I don't think I have time to take the most out of it; college and job demand quite a lot of time at the moment. However I can save and buy it when my summer comes (that is, Novemeber or so), and I'll be way more productive then. I forgot that the game itself came with 30 days of gameplay, that makes things easier.
And again, FFXIV looks like a really good MMO so I'm determined to give it a try when I have more spare time.
Thanks again for the offer bro
