Description We all have decisions to make in life. Some easy, some not so easy. Many times the end result, reflects the amount of effort it took to get there. Just an observation.

You're welcome.

I think the book being titled is better. It makes one wonder if he's read it.

And a good observation too. You sketched it well, and though it may be labelled 'surrealistic' it is, in many ways, as real as life gets. Good title too. Thank you.

I really like the message in this (and the way you drew it). If you go for the hard option, you get the gold. If you give up and go for the easy option, you get a pile of poop
Nice job

Good observation. I'm a little "critiqued" out, but I do want to compliment you on adding some color. Yellow and brown are ugly together, but I think they fit the style and tone you are shooting for.

Actually my junior high school's colors were yellow and brown. Blech!

Meltin In reply to TheRealJustinBailey [2010-11-17 02:57:48 +0000 UTC]

It's fine. Good to know I didn't completely blow it.lol I couldn't see any alternative to yellow and brown tho'. Icky, was good,in this case.
Well,I guess I brought back some fond memories for you then? Sorry.

This is very interesting... Is that a pile of doodie on the left and a pot of gold on the right? and he has to walk across a tightrope wire to get to either?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Meltin In reply to mertonparrish [2010-11-16 23:37:05 +0000 UTC]

Yes and no.lol The tight rope leads to the pot of gold. The bridge leads to the pile of..."doodie".
I must have failed miserably,in my representation of the bridge.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mertonparrish In reply to Meltin [2010-11-17 10:46:46 +0000 UTC]

No, you didn't. I see it is clearly a bridge, and now that you explain (and I look again) I see exactly what you are saying. I think I was just being dense or not looking carefully enough. I am kinda that way, sometimes. I can be looking for something in the cupboard, and it is right in front of me, and I do not see it at all!

Lol. Silly, absent-minded, sorta zoned out, absent minded professor-ish, artist folk me!

Arrg.

Don't feel bad. I do that too. The more frustrated you get,the harder is to find that object...right in front of your nose.
I also found it funny, the fact you called the pile of "it"...doodie.lol Very tasteful.
Thank you for the visit. I appreciate it.

mertonparrish In reply to Meltin [2010-11-18 00:37:52 +0000 UTC]

I guess doodie is a nice way of putting it... Lol! It's tasteful, but not too stuffy, either. So you suppose that it's in Emily Post, or that dear Abby would recommend using that term? Wink.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Meltin In reply to mertonparrish [2010-11-18 02:04:31 +0000 UTC]

Emily would probably opt for "dung". I think Abby would probobly say "poo". lol Yours was fine. I was reluctant to put it up but, I figured,hey...it's art!

Oops! "probably" I do know how to spell. My typing skills,on the other hand, could use improvement.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mertonparrish In reply to Meltin [2010-11-19 11:13:52 +0000 UTC]

I was always a pretty good speller, but some words I never seem to be able to get right... and sometimes I make typos too, or get lazy and just put (sp?) when I am too lazy to Google a word.

Spelling and perfection with spelling and grammar can certainly be a challenge. Sometimes I spend and awful lot of time editing and rewriting my silly, long-winded essays and letters that sometimes no one reads. But the writing and even editing is clarifying personally, spiritually, artistically.

"Artistically"... Now there's one I am not sure of... but there is no red line under it, so it must be spelled alright... Lol.

Meltin In reply to mertonparrish [2010-11-20 02:35:14 +0000 UTC]

I keep Google Definitions open in a second window, all the time. I never know when I'm going to forget,or be unsure of how to spell a word. Plus,it enables me to use words, their definitions I may not be sure of. It's a learning experience for me.

I'll have to take a look at your "long winded essays". I don't write well. I just wing,it and get lucky sometimes. lol I am guilty of doing the same with my comments. Occasionally.

Ah,you use spell check.....cheater.lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mertonparrish In reply to Meltin [2010-11-22 10:59:42 +0000 UTC]

Having Google definitions up sounds like a good idea...

Seems like you express well to me.

Spell check is easier than going and getting the dictionary. I am lazy and don't want to leave my bed, where I am often lying on my side, typing messages/essays, as though at a Roman dinner party! Wink.

Thanks. Rhetoric fascinates me. It's nice to be able to express oneself in and intelligent manner. I mean, what the fuck. I sure as hell don't want to sound like a dumb ass,ya know? That was for contrast's sake. I apologize.
Spell check would be fine. I won't learn anything if it's done for me tho'. I do it the hard way.lol

I love the symbolism here. Walk the straight and narrow and earn your reward, or take the easy path and wind up in a pile of crap. lol I love the character whose suit is too big, he's well drawn and the shading as always is amazing. I like how the chasm underneath him seems to go on forever, giving depth to your image. The details are incredible, from the wire that looks so realistic right down to the crack in the walls. I also like how you added color to your image for another dimension. Once again you've done a wonderful job not only in your unique style of drawing, but coming up with an image that has such symbolism and causes you to pause and think. Great job!

Damn. You know more about it then I do. Would you mind telling me s'more? Um,you sure I drew this? Maybe you're a professional art translator. Hmm... lol
Once again, you have amazing insight, and an innate ability to put your observations into words. The drawing isn't worthy of the comment. Thank you so much for your kind, and inspiring cogitations. You're a beacon of light, for the rest of us to follow. It makes me want to rub your feet. Thanks again.
