Description I'm not really sure I like this one. It's four boys from an RPG, in a house with doors and windows that open onto different worlds. I tried to do it in more of a Chinese novel-cover style. I do like how their hair turned out, and the blue shirt and the army jacket, but all of their faces look stiff and pale and overworked to me. Watercolor needs to have some freedom to it.

I would have to say that I feel the only portion of the picture that I think your apprehensions really apply to are the face of the boy on the bottom right, with the long dark hair. The boy with the brown hair looks just awesome, though, and I like the tears in the black shirt of the bottom right boy. The hair on the bottom left is very beautiful, too. I don't think you have a problem with stiffness; your attention to detail and like somebody else said, precision, is impressive, especially with watercolors. It wouldn't hurt to loosen up a little though, I'm sure. That aspect coming from you could be very interesting!

I really like the one in the army jacket. but all the faces are good. You can see their expressions.

The scan paled it out a bit; the real thing is way, way better. If we mess with scanner settings a bit, I bet we can get you a scan you'll be happier with.

Because jeez, if you're not happy with THIS, you're a silly person, that's all.

WOW-- It's fantastic! I love how distinct they each are! I love the background too, simple and has a little mystery to it.

Pardon me sounding dorkish but is this RPG your creation? or no

Yeah, the setting is from a dream I had, actually. It's a great place for drama and unsettling creepiness.

i'm not seeing the stiff and overworked thing here -- it looks great to me! there is a precision here that is tough to get at with watercolor, but it doesn't look stiff or boring -- there is still that freedom inherent in the medium. the only thing i would do perhaps, is to maybe add more contrast to the faces of the top left and bottom right boys... their chins get a little lost, whereas the other's are very nicely defined. i love the guy in the army jacket -- he looks great!! there is a lot of character in all of them -- very nice.
