Description This piece kind of helped keeping me sane over the past weeks. Was really busy with work and even though the work stuff was quite fun, I just had to squeeze in something personal somehow. So I worked on this for little bits of time here and there. I think I like how it came out.

Also I want to apologize for the many unanswered comments. I am reading every comment and message, but I just had no time to get back to every single one. But rest assured that I really appreciate them all

Hope you guys enjoy this one as much as I do. Print will be up soon.

Daniel

This is absolutely wonderful. I sat for a fair while looking at it trying to decide what exactly about it was hitting me so hard. I think a lot of it has to do with the combination of the oppressive darkness of the sky, and the mystical light in the mist rising from the lake. In most images it's very natural to light everything from above, indeed the eye is trained to see light in that way. By focusing the majority of your light in the center of the image, and even more so in the lake and the mist, you really create an epic sense of age and magic. And despite how large the rest of the landscape is around it, my eye keeps being drawn to the monolith by the lakes edge, which is perfect in keeping with the feeling in the rest of the picture.

The concept itself is one that has probably been done quite often, but you really pull off the execution and make the image definitely one of the better ones I've seen in a long time.

The attention to detail in you’re paintings is INSANE so hyper realistic and the textures are very nice!

This is very reminiscent of the classic landscape paintings that illustrated much of Europe and America in the past. You have really captured the sense of a vast landscape, the foreboding weather drawing in from the distance and the realistic greens of the grass etc. The central mountain is so well rendered as well that it matches the correct level of detail whilst still showing its far away, helping set the depth of the image.

Overall, excellent work, very talented fella!

Phew, talk about a late answer! Thanks so much for your detailed comment! Actually I remember struggling quite a bit with the level of detail of the main cliff. It was really hard to balance between the sense of scale and the sense of distance. I'm glad you find it succesful =] And that remark about the classic paintings is quite the compliment, thank you!

I probably do not comment as often as I should on here, probably because I know very little about art but... I find the scale of our pieces to be pretty enthralling. There is just something majestic about the vision of these places alongside the small figures that makes these just feel... well it makes me want to write about them because there has to be a lot there.
