Engineer's Sentry firing speed is pretty messed up. The first point increases your damage as it's supposed to. The second point only works when you combine it with a Wrangler. The third point does nothing.

Do you recommend any particular placements for beginners. I've found good placements for Wrangled Sentires, but I'm not sure what to recommend to other Trainees who don't have any unlocks for their Secondary. Β Whenever I end up on a new map I try to ask my teammates for a good spot, sometimes they suggest one that works very well for my Sentry, but they insist my Dispenser should stay next to me; and sometimes I'm met with Conga lines... Β
I like to find Ammo crates to supply my metal from a good vantage point then leave my Dispenser down in the 'pit' area behind some cover so I don't have to jump down and repair it often, but it's stationed near the Heavies, Soldiers, Pyros, Scouts, etc.
I don't have the Rescue Ranger so I can't access the 'sweet spots' that youtubers like to show. (just need one more Eureka Effect)
If you could suggest an Beginer Engi Guide, or know who to look for just drop a name and I'll search them up. I'm not 'bad' as Engi I just have a hard time telling if my Buildings blew up due to poor placement, or becaise Pub Boot Camp. Β It's hard to know what to do better on maps that make the Trainee's Disconect.

That strongly depends from a map, mission and difficulty. There's many possibly working placements, but the best one is the one that's the most accurate to the current game.Β
And Dispenser should never stay with an Engineer, unless Engineer is not staying anywhere away from the team.
The best thing to do is to keep your dispenser away from Sentry (Buster safety) and your Sentry should be placed behind a slight cover + near an ammo crate.Β
Creating such tutorials for the entire team setup on certain maps is something I have in plans. Unfortunately I'm not going to work on that anytime soon, so people will have to rely on Boot Camp trainings I'm going to host again and soon.

Roger that, I've seen first hand the sentry do considerable damage without optimum placement. Β It makes sense you'd want to prioritize other guides beforehand, I just wondered if you had heard of engineer guides that could benefit players who are unfamiliar with the waves, I'll be fine looking on my own. Β It's just that I've seen some placements in boot camp that look like a good spot, but our engi couldn't hold the position, not sure if they're trying a spot that is too difficult for our team to hold, or if it's just a bad spot for most waves.Β
I plan on experimenting with sentry placement, including trying out spots suggested by teammates, but my dispenser placement I feel could rally the noobs to the right choke to... I guess teach better tactics to my team?

"Buying that 3rd Sentry Firing speed upgrade does literally nothing.Β
Β Β
In case you aren't aware, Sentry firing speed has been bugged since release.
The first upgrade point gives a 50% firing speed boost.
The second upgrade gives an additional 5% firing speed boost.
The third one gives nothing."
Proof

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!
YOU DON'T TELL ME THAT CRIT CAN MAKE SENTRY SHOOT FASTER!
AND IS MINI-CRIT CAN MAKE SENTRY SHOOT FASTER???

Menaria In reply to TheSoldierInVietnam [2015-04-15 19:50:50 +0000 UTC]
nope, it doesn't. It only makes the sentry damage more.

Wait so
Crit make sentry shoot faster
and mini crit make sentry damage more?
or both make sentry damage but Crit is more damage than Mini crit?
Oh yeah i want to ask
Can you tell me the team that is "Most powerful" one in MvM?
Because if some player is a very pro and they don't need to be safe so what team they need to use?Β
Maybe to against the Wave 666 more effect?Β
Including Sniper for the best damage...?Β
and i very wonder
is there anything different between your exams, upgrade, guilds and any information, upgrade, guilds from other place?Β

Crits does not speed sentry in any way.
And really everything works for MvM if your team is "pro". I'm making the guides for newbies.
And yes, what I show in my comics is what is considered "meta" or just the most common strategy for not-so-pro players, but sometimes people come up with other strategies, which sometimes are even super ridiculus.

So you mean even crit is nothing to the sentry but only effect to engineer?Β
Alright i get it
But the Spy and the Pyro, along with Sniper can be count on the one who deal the most damage in game?
Is in MvM the Giant Soldier robot everytime when they shoot "Crit" rocket (Including the normal robot soldier) the rocket will be slow down?Β

NOTHING in this game affects the speed of your projectiles, unless you upgrade things like rocket specialist, which speeds up your rockets.

Crits on your frontier don't reach the damage of the sentry you can save with your Ranger

That's why corners are great. When everything goes bad just hide it behind something and repair it.

The vanilla Sentry Nest seems to get me killed more often than not, I'd use the Rescue Ranger for the variety of situations such as Sentry Busters or Crit Giants, but since I don't have one I use the Pomson on the Robo Medics to help my team. Β It's hard to use Revenge Crits when you die in nanoseconds. If all the explosives and miniguns failed to save my comrades just now, how is a blown up sentry going to save mine?Β
