Of all the Medusa masks I've made, this was one of my favorites. I just feel like I got the shaping & sculpting of the snakes "right" with this one...the snakes seemed to be reaching out from the face.I also loved the colors, because copper & gold on black seems really sexy to me; like a beautiful lady in a sequin-covered evening gown.
The eyes of the snakes are tiny 3mm malachite beads, all sewn into the snakes' heads by hand (it takes a long time!). The entire mask is made from one piece of leather.

Absolutely stunning! You've really out done yourself this time. The snakes really seem to be alive, writhing and twisting against each other, and staring at us with their eyes glinting with malice. This gorgon mask would turn anyone to stone, or at least be struck speechless by such masterful craftsmanship.

Yes, the shaping on this one was the most dynamic. Every time I make a Medusa I start with the same flat pattern...the "art" comes from the sculpting & with this one, I feel like I got it right.

Hee! I know...the snakes were the best-shaped ones I ever did. Good & bad thing about hand-shaped masks; sometimes you do something JUST right.

I went from light gold to darker copper & then back to light again, so it does draw the eye!
