Yet another Medusa mask! It might seem like I've made a lot of these...but really they are SO time-consuming and such a big project that I just document each & every one REALLY well, because once I sell it, it's gone for good.This one was a fun experiment in colors mixed right on the mask. I painted everything black first. then mixed a teal blue with a metallic base & drybrushed it on the carved scales. As I worked towards the individual snake heads, I kept adding more & more green. The result was a lot of fun, I think. Accents are bright silver.
The snakes' eyes are all real pearls, hand-sewn into each tiny snake head.

Thanks! Yes, you can commission a Medusa from me on Etsy (though I have to warn you, they are among my most time consuming pieces & so they are my most expensive masks...about $300).
Still, you can request any colors you like & we can even work out a payment plan.

I don't know if this is what you're doing, but if you are, I did the same thing with my bird masks. Even though they were/are time-consuming, I still loved making them just to see the different things I could accomplish with each one. I have plans of doing more of them, too.

Yes, sometimes I get on a roll & I just keep tweaking a design until I feel like I've played it out. I haven't done a Medusa since the Rattlesnake version which was (for me) the peak of what I could do with that motif.
